Over: Joanne Todd and James Susler’s troubled ‘marriage’ came to an explosive end on Monday’s episode of Married At First Sight

Joanne revealed that she and James had had an ‘argument’ after the commitment ceremony, which prompted her to ‘request a separate room’.

The next day, Joanne returned to their shared apartment, only to find it empty.

‘It doesn’t even look like he’s slept in the bed. He has kept his wedding band here though…’ she said, after finding his ring in the bathroom.

She added: ‘That’s his wedding ring, and like he said to me, that no matter what happens, he would never take it off.

‘So where’s he gone last night where he doesn’t want to be known that he’s married in an experiment? Like, he’s taken it off.’

Joanne said discovering his abandoned wedding ring was ‘very hurtful’, especially after he ‘humiliated’ her by joking that he was ‘in love’ with one of the show’s love experts, Alessandra Rampolla, at the commitment ceremony.

James ultimately voted to leave the experiment, which blindsided Joanne, who called his decision ‘hurtful’.

‘It was a bit of a shock. Yeah, I know that he wants to leave, but it’s still not the right way to treat someone,’ she said.

‘You don’t just go missing. It’s disrespectful. You don’t ignore phone calls, you don’t ignore text messages.

Harsh: 'To who? To you? Why is it disrespectful to you? Who are you to me? You're nothing,' he told her

‘I don’t want to be here with someone who’s doing this or treating me like that when I could be back home. Like, it’s a waste.’

Getting emotional, Joanne added that she was ‘sacrificing time’ with her three sons to be in the experiment, and she felt like a ‘fool’.

As Joanne demanded answers, a dismissive James told her he ‘just had to get away for a bit’ to ‘clear his head’.

‘Why can’t you give me the time of day or speak to me? I tried calling you, I tried messaging you… We’re still supposed to be in this experiment together,’ she fumed.

Joanne reiterated that James walking out on her had been ‘disrespectful’, which prompted him to retaliate with a cutting response.

‘He says that I just mean nothing to him. It makes me feel s**t. If I’m nothing to someone, I’ll be nothing to you,’ Joanne later confessed, before taking off her wedding ring.
