‘Never talk with your mouth full’: Luke Evans has moulds of his teeth taken for his role in the new live action Pinocchio film

Luke Evans has had moulds of his teeth taken for his role in the new live action remake of Pinocchio.

The actor, 41, took to Instagram on Monday to share a clip of the dental process for his role as the new Disney villain, the Coachman.

He revealed the same dentist, Chris Lyons, had altered his teeth for his role in Dracula and Beauty and the Beast, in which he played Gaston.

Luke sat patiently as the clay-coloured mould was inserted into his mouth to get an impression.

The Hobbit star sported a black T-shirt, which showed off his muscular physique, and a blue protective sheet was tucked into it to protect from potential spillages.

Speaking to the camera, he said: ‘So this is Chris Lyons, who did my teeth for Dracula and Gaston, and now he’s doing my teeth for the Coachman in Pinocchio.’

While the dentist held the mould in place, Luke attempted to try to chat, but quickly gave up when it proved difficult.

Also starring in the forthcoming Disney+ film is screen legend Tom Hanks, 64, as Geppetto.

Cynthia Erivo, 34, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, 40, have been added to the cast and are set to portray the Blue Fairy and Jiminy Cricket, respectively.

The Haunting Of Bly Manor actor Benjamin Evan Ainsworth will provide the voice for the puppet who comes to life.

Keegan Michael-Key is set to provide a voice for the anthropomorphic fox Honest John, who serves as the main antagonist in the film.

The casting move comes after Evans famously portrayed the egotistical, navel-gazing Gaston in 2017‘s Beauty and the Beast remake opposite Emma Watson and Dan Stevens.

The new Pinocchio, to be directed by Forrest Gump helmer Robert Zemeckis, will go straight to the Disney+ streaming platform, unlike the previously-mentioned predecessors which enjoyed big theatrical bows.

Like the 1940 animated classic, Pinocchio will explore the tale of an enchanted puppet who longs to become a real boy.

Luke’s Coachman will be one of several antagonists who attempt to harm and exploit Pinocchio for their personal gain.

Disney’s live action take on the story is only one of several Pinocchio projects, either currently in production or recently released.

One is the highly anticipated darker version of the story being co-directed by the visionary filmmaker Guillermo Del Toro, and starring the likes of Cate Blanchett, Ewan McGregor and Tilda Swinton.
