AFL star Joel Selwood’s wife Brit reveals the ‘very, very near miss’ that almost ruined their wedding day
Geelong Cats star Joel Selwood married special needs teacher Brit Davis in a lavish ceremony last year.
But on Monday, Brit revealed how a crisis almost destroyed their ‘perfect’ wedding.
She told the You and Me podcast: ‘If you speak to our wedding planner, Laura, there was a very, very near miss that probably would have turned the wedding the opposite way.’

Brit explained: ‘We nearly had a bit of a fire, I don’t even know what happened, but she dealt with it and I didn’t even know until the next day.
‘So she was running around like a headless chook, but I didn’t know a thing.’
The fire aside, Brit said every detail of her wedding day was perfect and that she wouldn’t change a thing.

However, Brit said the threat of bushfires and the poor air quality was a concern that weighed on the couple and their guests.

The Selwoods exchanged vows at a stunning private property outside of Geelong, Victoria, in January last year.
The bride wore two dresses, a gown from Elie Saab and a reception dress from Paolo Sebastian. Meanwhile, the footy star opted for a suit from Hugo Boss.

‘We had the day of our lives yesterday with all our loved ones. It was an incredibly magical day filled with love and happiness,’ Brit told the Herald Sun afterwards.
For their honeymoon, the AFL glamour couple enjoyed a $2,100 a-night stay at the Saffire Freycinet lodge on Tasmania’s east coast.
Joel and Brit met through mutual friends in 2015, and announced their engagement in August 2018.
