The Project’s Lisa Wilkinson tries to remain in control during live mic blunder

‘Let me finish!’ Host Lisa Wilkinson struggles to remain in control during hilarious live mic blunder on The Sunday Project

Lisa Wilkinson, like the rest of The Sunday Project panel, is not shy in poking fun at herself.

And on Sunday’s episode, the veteran journalist, 61, attempted to take an accidental live microphone blunder in her stride.

As guest co-host Jan Fran was heard asking whether she could lead the next segment, Lisa, who was presenting the news, hilariously said: ‘Go right ahead! Just let me finish first!’

Tommy Little, who is always up for a laugh, also chimed in, asking: ‘Can I say something after Jan Fran?’

‘Just a little bit more, won’t be long Tom!’ Lisa exclaimed, later adding with a laugh: ‘I want to speak!’

‘I’ve got some thoughts,’ Hugh Riminton also offered, before he was cut off by Lisa who remarked playfully: ‘Shut up, Hugh!’

The entire show took the blunder in their stride, sharing footage to Instagram alongside the caption: ‘Accidental live mic incident? It happens to the best of us.’

This isn’t the first time The Project has suffered a live television blunder.

Just last week, Tommy, 36, was momentarily lost for words when the camera panned to him unexpectedly.

Tommy appeared perplexed when the camera fixed in on him, after Lisa thanked Susie Youssef for her segment on the Covid-19 vaccine rollout.

‘So sorry, guys. Sometimes the camera comes to me and I’m reminded I’m on TV,’ Tommy eventually managed to muster, after looking blankly at the screen for several seconds.

Lisa found hilarity in the situation, remarking ‘your turn!’ before erupting in laughter.
