Katharine McPhee steps out for the first time since welcoming a son with David Foster

Katharine McPhee is seen for the first time since welcoming her first son with husband David Foster a few weeks ago. 

The 36-year-old singer flashed a glimpse at her post baby body in black flared pants and a matching top, layering a beige coat over as she strolled in Los Angeles on Saturday. 

McPhee’s reps confirmed that she had given birth in late February, telling Us Weekly, ‘Everything went well. Mom and baby are healthy.’

For her day out she slipped a pair of wedges on her feet and carried a small black purse, her hair tied back in a loose bun. 

Sunglasses on her face and a white face mask in hand she was seen parking her car on a residential street. 

She shared her first glimpse into her life as a mom last Saturday, posting a photo while holding the newborn in cloth baby carrier.  

The American Idol vet wrote ‘Just in case you were wondering…I love being a mommy.’ 

It had been said that she ‘had been waiting to be a mom for a long time,’ and ‘couldn’t be any happier’ according to an E! insider. 

A first for her, her husband Foster has six children of his own now with the birth of their son, sharing Amy, 47, Sarah, 40, Erin, 38, and Jordan, 34, with former wives B.J. Cook (1972 – 1981) and Rebecca Dyer (1982 – 1986). 

Additionally he is father to Allison, 50, who he had at the tender age of 20, the details of her biological mother have never publicly been revealed. 

He had put her up for adoption but they reunited when she was 30 and mended their relationship, and additionally she became the director of his foundation, The David Foster Foundation.  

McPhee was married to Nick Cokas, 55, from 2008 to 2016, Foster even being present at the ceremony where he played the piano. 

She and Foster had met when she was very young in 2006 and he had become a professional mentor to her. 

The Unbroken singer spoke about reconnecting with the Canadian-born producer romantically in 2017. 

She told Dr. Berlin on the Informed Pregnancy Podcast this month: ‘It was always this professional relationship, but I think looking back he was definitely enamored with me and I was taken with him.’ 

They married in June 2019 and announced they were expecting in October of 2020. 

Critics were quick to speak out on their ‘age-gap’ relationship and McPhee did reveal that she had concerns about what people would think, citing the gendered perceptions that come with being a younger woman dating an older man. 

‘It’s the woman who wants to be with the older man because he has money and he’s had success and she wants this, that. I mean, our story’s been the complete opposite,’ she told Dr. Berlin.  

Foster had addressed the haters in a 2019 video telling them, ‘Go f**k [your]selves.’ Mcphee ultimately said ‘I’m in love with our love story and that’s all that matters.’
