Ferne McCann’s mum reveals star ‘was never very maternal’ but is a ‘natural’ with Sunday

Ferne McCann’s mother Gilly has revealed her daughter ‘was never very maternal’. 

The 61-year-old, who is regular feature on Ferne’s ITVBe show First Time Mum, spoke about how the former TOWIE star, 30, adapted to motherhood during an Instagram Live on Thursday.

Gilly said Ferne became a ‘natural’ mum ever since she fell pregnant with her daughter Sunday, now three. 

Appearing on the live for Ferne’s fitness platform Embodyment with Ferne, Gilly said: ‘Ferne is such a natural mum but very surprisingly. You were never very maternal. 

‘I wouldn’t say you were dreaming every day of having a baby. 

‘But the moment you had Sunday, or actually while you were pregnant, this calm came over you and you just became very natural and lovely to watch.’ 

The pair also talked about each other’s pet peeves. 

Gilly said: ‘What I dislike about you is that sometimes I’m trying to have a conversation with you and your heads in your phone. 

‘I actually love it when we’re in the car together and you’re driving so you’re not looking at your phone so we can actually have a conversation.’

She added: ‘I know a lot of what people do now for work is on your mobile phone but it’s tough.’

Ferne replied: ‘That’s my big thing and I’m always trying to find ways to be in the present moment, like going for a walk or exercise. It’s hard and sometimes even Sunday says “Mummy, put down your phone.”

Gilly said the reality star gets annoyed ‘sometimes when I tell you the truth. Because sometimes we don’t like to hear that do we. I wouldn’t like it if grandad said it to me.’

Ferne told her: ‘That’s actually making me well up as it’s such a powerful statement because we don’t always like hearing the truth.’ 

Earlier this week, the television personality gushed over romance with her boyfriend Jack Padgett. 

Ferne revealed she cannot stop saying ‘I love you’ to the male model and has had to rein in her professions of love to her pals. 

Speaking to The Sun, she admitted that Jack has ‘changed her life, saying: ‘I feel like he really is the one. I’m in that love bubble and I don’t think that’s going to change. He’s honestly changed my life and that’s it now. I’m so grateful.’
