Harry Styles will performing opening for Grammy Awards … as he’s up for three honors at ceremony

Harry Styles will open this year’s Grammy Awards, according to organizers.

The 27-year-old recording artist will lead off the annual award show as he’s a nominee in three categories: Best Pop Solo Performance for Watermelon Sugar, Best Pop Vocal Album for Fine Line, and Best Music Video for Adore You.

CBS executive Jack Sussman told Variety that the show would be jam packed with entertainment from the beginning, with the English superstar starting things off.

Leading the way: Harry Styles, 27, will open this year’s Grammy Awards, according to organizers. He was snapped last year in NYC

‘You don’t want to miss the top of the show,’ Sussman said. ‘It’s going to be music coming at you heavy and hard like you’ve not seen it before.

‘We’ve got Harry Styles, this incredible entertainer, at the top of the show and we’ll just keep coming at you.’

Styles’ Fine Line, released in December of 2019, has moved more than 2.5 million units, Alpha Data reported.

Grammy producer Ben Winston has made plans to accommodate the show amid the coronavirus pandemic, which will be shot from locations including the Los Angeles Convention Center and L.A. Live, integrating live and pre-recorded performances.

Sussman said organizers ‘wanted to do it right for the artists,’ as ‘it’s been a tough year’ with the touring industry virtually shut down.

‘This is a moment in time for these artists to get out on stage and connect with fans who have been starving for these kinds of moments,’ he said. ‘We have a wonderful group of diverse musical talent – some of the best live performers on the planet.’

Another high-profile act set to take the stage at the Grammys are the superstar K-pop ensemble BTS.

‘It will be what you really love and want to see BTS do,’ Sussman told the outlet. ‘They’re going to have fun and engage the audience at home. They’ll get you up on your feet in your living room.’

Sussman said that the audience isn’t going to see a tamped-down show: ‘For the viewer at home, this isn’t going to be a remote Zoom telecast. You’re going to be as entertained as if you were watching it at the Staples with 14,000 other fans.’

Trevor Noah will host the 63rd annual Grammy Awards, which will air live Sunday from 8:00 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PST on CBS and Paramount+.
