George Clooney reveals he once pranked Richard Kind by defecating in his cat litter tray

It’s George C-LOO-ney: Hollywood legend reveals he once pranked close friend Richard Kind by defecating in his pet cat’s litter tray while they shared an apartment as jobbing actors

George Clooney has revealed he once played the ultimate prank on close friend Richard Kind by defecating in his pet cat’s litter tray.

The Hollywood star, famed for being something of a joker on set, was a young jobbing actor when Kind allowed him to move into his one-bedroom flat after he broke up with a girlfriend.

But Clooney, 59, admitted boredom got the better of him as he sat in the cramped apartment with Kind’s cat between auditions, resulting in him deciding to play a joke on his unsuspecting friend.

Recalling the bizarre incident during an appearance on Jason Bateman, Will Arnett and Sean Hayes’ SmartLess podcast, Clooney revealed Kind – now a hugely successful actor in his own right – failed to see the funny side.

‘He was working and I’m waiting for an audition, and I go into the bathroom and there’s a kitty litter box next to the toilet and it’s got cat s**t in it’ he said. ‘And I scoop it up and I flush it down the toilet.

‘And the next day, the cat takes a s**t, I flush it down the toilet and Richard checks, and it goes on for like three or four or five days.’

The notorious prankster admitted his joke quickly escalated after Kind – unaware that his flatmate had emptied the litter tray – expressed concern that the cat had not had a bowel movement for days.

Worried for the cat’s health, he eventually took it to see a vet, who prescribed it laxatives that Clooney claims made it ‘s**t 15 times a day.’

However the actor still kept the prank going until he had a ‘lightbulb moment’ regarding how he could take it to the next level, and prolong his flatmate’s understandable anguish.

He said: ‘Then the light bulb goes off, and I realise what I must do… which is take a s**t in the cat box.

‘Now, there is this moment, when I’m squatted down over a cat box, where I’m going, “Really?!”‘

Fortunately for Kind he soon realised Clooney had been duping him because the actor struggled to keep a straight face whenever he mentioned the cat’s lack of toilet activity.

‘He realises I’ve been shovelling the cat s**t out and he gets madder and madder,’ Clooney recalled, with the actor revealing a disgruntled Kind screamed at him: ‘I understand humour, defecation doesn’t make me laugh!’

The two-time Oscar winner also revealed his wife Amal just started watching episodes of ER recently, and that his character’s reputation as a ladies man has gotten him ‘in a lot of trouble.’

‘We were getting something like 42 million people to watch the show, and those are numbers that are just unheard of when we had 150 channels,’ he said of the series’ ratings.

‘My wife is watching them now and it’s getting me in a lot of trouble,’ the 59-year-old said of Amal, 43, before sharing about his character’s ladies man reputation.

‘I’d forgotten about all of the terrible things I was doing — picking up on women and all those things.’
