Love Island’s Rebecca Gormley proudly displayed her underarm hair as she shared an impassioned post to mark International Women’s Day on Monday.

The reality star, 22, told her Instagram followers she will return to the modelling industry ‘bigger, better and stronger then ever’ after suffering an ‘awful fall’ in February – which may take nine months to heal.

The Newcastle-based beauty queen went makeup-free as she posed with her arm aloft, wearing a shower cap and a simple black vest top for the bathroom snap.

Addressing ‘mothers, sisters, grandmas and all you other powerful women out there’, Rebecca urged women to give themselves more credit as she detailed her accident, operation and recovery process.

‘As you know I’ve recently had an accident and had to have an operation on my right shoulder making it impossible for me to do the normal things I would do easily,’ she began.

‘I have been advised it could take up to 9 months if not longer for me to get the use of my arm back, so I have just let nature take it toll.

‘My shoulder injury has really effected me in ways I never thought it would have!’ Rebecca continued.

Rebecca signed off her post by encouraging anyone going through a similar situation to ‘power through’ and also drew attention to the fact that her life isn’t always as glamorous as it may seem on social media.

She said: ‘To all you other women out there who are in the same or similar situations, I promise you will power through this! Us women are capable of anything!

‘We glow through what we go through and will continue to do so with the support from one another!

‘I am ever so thankful and humble for all of the beautiful inspirational women who are in or have been in my life you are all just incredible! My REALITY!’

In February, Rebecca underwent surgery to correct her injured right arm following an accident.

Post operation, she took to social media to reveal to her fans that she was ‘so uncomfortable’ that she struggled to perform even the most basic tasks.

She said: ‘My hair hasn’t been washed in nine days as since having the operation, I haven’t been able to get my tresses wet.

‘So I’ve just been sitting in the bath just to have a little wash. I’ve managed to wash it once since the operation, which was two weeks ago,’ the brunette beauty admitted.

‘You can imagine how greasy it is, dry shampoo can’t even help it. I’ve had me dressings off and I went to the hospital yesterday.

Grimacing in pain, Rebecca added: ‘I have to keep the front and the back one on as it hasn’t healed properly, it’s still a bit raw. I’m going to be able to go in the shower and wash me hair properly tomorrow.

‘I’m proper buzzing, I didn’t know I’d be this excited to wash my hair. My hair is my pride and joy. Now my arm aches but that’s normal. It’s so so so uncomfortable but it has to be done and I’ll get physio for it.’

Rebecca previously revealed she may be scarred for life following the accident, saying: ‘I’m just so angry inside and hate not being able to do things for myself.

‘I hate it so much but just hope I can have a speedy recovery and that it heals itself quicker than expected because it’s awful, man.

‘Basically I fell and that’s the arm I damaged really bad… I fell and I’m lucky I didn’t snap my neck.

‘You’ve got this clavical (collarbone) bone. It’s like it came out of its place but it’s damaged as well,’ the media personality told her fans after the incident.

The social media star also expressed her gratitude towards her fans, mother, and boyfriend Biggs Chris for their support.

Rebecca and former car repairman Biggs, 28, have been dating for a year following their Love Island stint on the first winter edition of the ITV show.
