‘You know who you are ladies, even during a global health pandemic, you’ve been there for me. On the phone, online, you’ve sent cards, flowers, gifts, texts, we’ve had socially distant walks, virtual hugs and video calls too. You rock my universe. ‘

She then went on to share a special message to her daughter as she penned: ‘The women I know have made the most inspirational grandmas, the loveliest mums, spectacular sisters, awesome aunties, fiercest and funniest friends, coolest colleagues and badass bosses.

‘And this year I’m on a brand new mission… Raising a little lady of my own, in a society where women thankfully have far more opportunities than ever before.

‘I can’t wait to watch my daughter grow up into the person she wants to be and will remind her daily to dream big, that there is nothing she cannot do because she is female, and to never let anyone tell her otherwise.

She concluded her message writing: ‘Also I just checked and 82% of my Insta family are WOMEN. How BRILLIENNNNT is that? You champion me day in, day out, you’re always kind and the support you give to me and my family never goes unnoticed. Happy International Women’s Day to each and every one of you reading this.’

We were told initially that she’d only need to come in on Thursday we were discharged on Wednesday evening,

‘Friday morning however, we got a call saying she was to remain on them until today.’
