Married At First Sight’s Jake Edwards apologises to ‘wife’ Rebecca Zemek after boys’ night out

‘You don’t choose me’: Married At First Sight’s Jake Edwards apologises to ‘wife’ Rebecca Zemek after he enjoyed a boys’ night out following a difficult commitment ceremony

Jake Edwards apologised to ‘wife’ Rebecca Zemek on Monday’s episode of Married At First Sight, after they spent the night apart.

A furious Bec opted to sleep in a separate apartment to Jake, 32, after he decided to go out with the boys following a challenging commitment ceremony.

Jake – who was seen sporting a handlebar moustache in the episode – later asked Bec, 27, to come and talk to him about the previous night’s events.

Bec confessed she didn’t feel supported by Jake, and explained to him why she was so upset about his decision to go out without her.

‘I feel like as soon as things get tough, you run away. The experiment isn’t about hanging out with the boys, it’s about putting us to the test,’ she told him.

She added: ‘I need you to be here, and I feel like you don’t choose me.’

A sheepish Jake told Bec he was ‘really sorry’, and acknowledged that his timing of a boys’ night could have been better.

‘I probably fell into the bracket of thinking it’s the too hard basket. And I thought going out with a couple of boys would solve the problem, but it’s magnified it,’ he told her.

A seemingly reassured Bec told Jake that she understood how ‘hard’ the experiment could be, and confessed that she felt ‘worried and scared’, which had prompted her to be ‘cold’ towards him.

‘To turn this relationship around, it has to come from both of us,’ she continued.

Jake told Bec he was determined to work on their relationship, because he felt like they had ‘something special’.

The couple then finished their tense conversation with a lingering hug, after both vowing to try harder.

Married At First Sight continues Tuesday at 7.30pm on Channel Nine
