‘I know how profoundly a human being can change because I have’, the former model said, before discussing the power of healing from past traumas.

The media personality explained: ‘I think it’s important to understand why they’re there, how you got the wounds, look at them square in the eyes, and then trying to forgive the cause of the wounds. That’s the most important thing.

‘With the jewellery I’m wearing today, two beautiful black stones that had broken, and are joined together with gold.

‘You know what it reminds me of? When you lift weights enough and they’re heavy enough so that they’re challenging you… you’re causing microscopic tears in your muscles.

‘When they heal, they’re stronger than muscle was before it tore. That’s what [the jewellery] is.’

The film star moved to Washington, D.C. to carry out her Fire Drill Fridays action, where she choses to focus on a different aspect of climate change each week.

Stressing the significance of activism, the environmentalist shared: ‘People need meaning in their lives, I had no meaning in my life. Activism is joyful, it means the world to me, that’s how it’s changed my life.

‘We’re much, much less vulnerable to the disease of individualism than men are. We’re more responsible for the survival of our species, we do more work protecting… not just our little family, but the community, the town, the cities, the nation.’

‘Women are in leadership positions and will make decisions. We are the fastest growing demographic, there’s more women than men.

‘We are leaders all over the world. As Gloria Steinem says, it’s not that we’re morally better than men, we just don’t have our masculinity to prove.

‘Women need to understand the power of us getting together and getting organised. Individually, we’re totally vulnerable, but when we are together and organised, that’s how we’re gonna change the world… and it’s really up to us.’

Host Jameela, 35, agreed: ‘I’m excited for us as a collective as this is the first and the only opportunity we will really have to see lasting systemic change. It’s exciting to live right now, we need all of us to rise up.’

The TV and film icon ended the conversation by praising the Brit’s looks as she complimented: ‘My god, you’re beautiful!’, before Jameela shared: ‘I was thinking the same about you!’

Jane was arrested by U.S. Capitol Officers in November 2020 during a ‘Fire Drill Fridays’ climate change protest in Washington D.C.

It was the fourth time she had been arrested for protesting climate change, with the Julia star admitting conditions inside her holding cell were ‘not good for old bones like mine on a metal slab’.

Marked annually, International Women’s Day is held to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, while raising awareness regarding gender equality and parity across the globe.
