WHAT IS ANOREXIA NERVOSA?

According to the NHS, anorexia nervosa is ‘an eating disorder and serious mental health condition’

‘People who have anorexia try to keep their weight as low as possible by not eating enough food or exercising too much, or both’, the website adds

The eating disorder is most common in young women, and sufferers often have a distorted image of their figures

Symptoms include:

  • A low body mass index (BMI)
  • Hair loss and dry skin
  • Irregular periods
  •  Taking appetite suppressants
  • Missing meals and avoiding ‘fattening’ foods

‘I feel strong and built and I’m not finished yet.“You’re a dangerous person if you go through s**t alone and come back better.”

‘Once you’ve rebuilt yourself, it’s a lot harder for someone to break you down.’

‘Shine bright queens. However you feel comfortable in your own skin ladies I praise you because each and everybody is normal, different and beautiful.’

She concluded: ‘We all have our own battles and our own stories (I’ve got a library full ).

‘But let’s continue to praise each other and support one another and be sure to love and praise yourself too #iwd2021.’

The TV personality explained she was anorexic during her teenage years, which had a massive impact on her family planning journey.

The reality star, who shares twins Leo and Penelope, six, with husband Paddy, as well as three-year-old Felicity detailed: ‘I had anorexia for over 10 years as a child…

‘… all through my teenage years, [and was getting better] when I met my husband aged 19, 20. It was that strive and I just really wanted to be a mum that made me get over that.

‘When I went to see a doctor the reason I wasn’t ovulating or having my periods was down to having an eating disorder. That made me get better but it took four years for everything to regulate.

‘You’re tracking your chart and your temperature. My husband works away a lot so we had to make the most of our time together.’⠀

Revealing she gained six stone while carrying her two kids, Christine said: ‘I got to the point were I couldn’t physically carry them anymore.

‘I gained 6 stone which I’m quite proud of because I never thought I’d be able to do that. It’s amazing, absolutely amazing and the twins were born normal size.’
