Married At First Sight groom Sam Carraro stormed off after being confronted about criticising Coco Stedman on Sunday night.

The 32-year-old walked out during the show’s explosive first commitment ceremony when the experts confronted him about repeatedly putting bride Coco, 30, down.

‘I feel like I’m being attacked… Nothing has ever come out of my mouth to be nasty besides when we have had an honesty challenge and I’ve had to be honest,’ he said.

‘But honesty doesn’t have to be crude or disrespectful. Also, there are ways of saying things that are not hurtful,’ sexologist Alessandra Rampolla explained.

Relationship expert John Aiken added: ‘Alright, we’ve unpacked this tonight and what we have to do now is find out whether you want to stay or leave.’

Coco revealed she’d decided she wanted to leave the experiment, because she didn’t like the way Sam had been criticising her physical appearance and personality.

Sam then explained: ‘I wrote stay because I didn’t think it was going to go that bad. If I knew what was about to happen I would not have written stay.’

‘I would write leave right now if I could… I thought it’s early and we had some good times together,’ he said as Coco broke down in tears.

Expert Mel Schilling then asked Sam whether he had anything to say to Coco.

‘I can’t speak, I’m taking a minute. This is out of control,’ he said as he stormed out of the room.

Sam told producers: ‘I’ve always been nice and kind to Coco. I’ve tried to do the right thing by the experiment, but it’s blown up in my face. How am I the bad guy here?’

After taking a break, Sam returned to the commitment ceremony and agreed he’d try to be more ‘friendly’ in the week ahead.
