Married At First Sight viewers and John Aiken TURN on Rebecca Zemek

‘For once an expert says it like it is!’ Married At First Sight viewers and John Aiken TURN on ‘bride from hell’ Rebecca Zemek for her harsh treatment of ‘husband’ Jake Edwards

Both Married At First Sight viewers and the show’s relationship expert John Aiken turned on bride Rebecca Zemek during Sunday’s explosive commitment ceremony.

John told Rebecca, 27, he was ‘tired’ of listening to her harsh critique of husband Jake Edwards, 32, who she labelled ‘boring’, and her ‘unrelenting standards’.

Twitter erupted with viewers commending John for ‘saying it like it is’.

Another posted: ‘I don’t wanna (sic) see Bec again, week after week, torturing and tormenting Jake until he breaks down!’

‘Bec is being faced with some truths from the experts,’ one also commented, as well as one who said: ‘Bec is the opposite of warm and empathetic with her unrelenting standards. You tell her John.’

Others however were not as harsh online, suggesting Rebecca was purely on the show for fame.

‘As if Bec was ever going to voluntarily walk away from national TV exposure,’ one posted.

Another added: ‘How can Bec have said all those things and still write [to] stay [with Jake]? Wanting more screen time is it?’

During the commitment ceremony, John certainly did not hold back when issuing some sage advice for Rebecca.

‘I’ve listened to this. I’ve heard it, and I’m exhausted. There are two people on the couch in front of me. Only one of them, right now, is warm and empathic. Rebecca, that’s not you,’ John began.

‘Rebecca, your standards are so unrelenting that no man, not Jake, not anybody, is going to measure up to that. Now, you may smile at that, but I can tell you that’s not going to work in a relationship.’

John went on to say that by Rebecca simply viewing Jake as another ‘AFL guy’ who treats her ‘like a piece of meat’, she will simply put her walls up.

‘You’re going to be ice cold, and he’s going to walk away. And I’m being this direct with you because if you don’t break this pattern, you’re going to replace Jake with someone who’s going to treat you badly.’

Rebecca told John that she was ‘appreciative’ of the feedback, and is aware that she needs to break down the walls she puts up, as she does not ‘want to be that person’.

Earlier on in the episode, Rebecca admitted that she told Jake he was ‘boring’ and that he ‘sucks the life’ out of her.

She also revealed how she felt ‘objectified’ when Jake attempted to kiss her at their wedding.

Married At First Sight continues Monday at 7.30pm on Channel Nine
