Married At First Sight stars are ‘banned from lining up endorsement deals’

Married At First Sight stars are ‘banned from lining up endorsement deals’ as Channel Nine bosses refuse to let them use their Instagram accounts

Married At First Sight participants are known to cash in on their 15 minutes of fame by becoming Instagram influencers.

But things aren’t as easy for the cast of season eight, who have reportedly been banned from lining up endorsement deals.

The brides and grooms have been denied thousands of dollars in sponsorships as Nine bosses refuse to let them use their Instagram accounts, reports Woman’s Day.

An insider said the contestants are allowed to write their own captions on photos supplied by Nine, but that’s the extent of their permitted social media activity.

Comments have also been disabled on their posts and the stars aren’t allowed to read their direct messages, which is how sponsors would contact them.

The source said: ‘Even media outlets are doing the wheeling and dealing on behalf of some contestants because they have no voice this year.’

Former participants are believed to have lined up deals while their season was still airing, and many of them are still reaping the benefits years later.

According to estimates by Angelic Diamonds, the highest-earning participant from the Married At First Sight franchise is season six bride Jules Robinson.

The 38-year-old earns about $81,000 per year spruiking products to her 581,000 followers.

This figure was estimated by comparing advertising rates for influencers with factors such as follower count and engagement levels.
