Allison Langdon is wheeled into Nine’s Today show after ONE MONTH off due to a horrific hydrofoiling accident – as co-host Karl Stefanovic assists his injured co-star navigate the set

Allison Langdon made a triumphant return to the Today show on Monday after more than a month off following an injury sustained filming the breakfast program.

The TV journalist was pushed through Nine’s Sydney studios in a wheelchair, while also balancing a pair of walking crutches on her lap.

Allison, 41, was greeted by her co-host Karl Stefanovic, who helped her navigate the stairs on the set towards their panel desk for the start of the show.

Allison has been off the air since undergoing knee surgery after falling from a hydrofoil during a pre-recorded segment on the Gold Coast on February 4.

She previously told KIIS FM’s Kyle And Jackie O that she had broken her leg and dislocated a knee before having her surgery last month.

Allison also revealed she was seeing a physiotherapist three times a week and resting up at home with her two children and husband.

Despite her return, Allison is still far from fully recovered, as she had a large brace over her knee and leg and required both a wheelchair and crutches on arrival.

Karl had earlier joked that he had to give up his prime seat on the left, which he has occupied for more more than 20 years, for Allison and her injured leg.

The seat is closest to the steps, and appears to have been replaced with a lower stool to make sitting easier for Allison.

Fitting with International Women’s Day, Allison showed she was strong, resilient and brave in the face of her adversity.

She posed for a happy snap with entertainment reporter Brooke Boney in the studio to mark the day, flexing their biceps in a sign of strength.

However, Allison’s first day back didn’t all go to plan.

After returning from an ad break around 6.30pm, Allison revealed that she had only just made it back in the nick of time.

After Karl jokingly asked ‘where have you been?’, she confessed lightheartedly: ‘just went to the ladies room if you don’t mind. Took me a bit longer to get back than I thought it might.’

In a statement to Daily Mail Australia last month, a Channel Nine spokesperson described what had happened as ‘an unfortunate accident’.

‘After nearly an hour of incident-free filming of a segment about hydrofoiling, Ally fell awkwardly as she headed back to the marina at the end of the shoot,’ they said.

The statement added that both Karl and Ally had a ‘comprehensive safety induction and a thorough run-through of all aspects of hydrofoiling.
