Kate Lawler has revealed she feared she would never have children after discovering she has a ‘really low egg count’ for her age.
The 40-year-old former Big Brother star, who welcomed a daughter Noa with her fiancé Martin last month, told how the couple started trying to conceive after realising ‘time was against’ them.
In a new interview, Kate also ruled out having any more children in the future as she insisted ‘one is enough’.

She told The Sun: ‘As soon as I found out my egg count was really low for my age it did make me fear I wouldn’t be able to have kids. It does flip a switch in your head and I did start to panic a little.’
Kate went on to say how she and Martin began trying for a baby shortly after the discovery as they couldn’t ‘sit on the fence’ any longer.
She said how they had planned to ‘face any difficulties’ on their pregnancy journey, but luckily Kate fell pregnant ‘right away’, adding that it was a ‘surprise’.
She went on: ‘It could have easily been the case that we were never able to have kids so I know how special it is. Because I was forty I was told that pregnancy came with extra risks of preeclampsia and I would have to have extra scans.’

The radio star explained that the only problem the couple faced was her placenta being low, but it soon corrected itself and they had an otherwise smooth pregnancy.
But despite welcoming their little girl in February, Kate has insisted that she doesn’t want to add to her brood.
She added: ‘I can’t see myself having another child. One is enough. Martin would definitely like another but I can’t see it happening.’
She did go on to point out that she initially didn’t want children at all, but noted that being a twin herself, she’s more likely to conceive twins, adding that it was ‘definitely not happening’.

It’s been a worrying time for Kate and her family as little Noa has been in and out of hospital since being born.
On Friday, Kate admitted she has struggled to get out of bed some days since becoming a mother after her daughter Noa has endured three hospital stays.
The radio presenter told how Noa is now back at home after she was rushed to hospital with a temperature of 38C.
Kate admitted that her three weeks of motherhood have been ‘the most challenging, emotionally draining and stressful three weeks’ of her life in an Instagram post.

Sharing several snaps of herself alongside her fiancé Martin and Noa, she wrote: ‘Noa decided to spend the day we registered her at the local town hall by allowing us to enjoy a dirty cheese pizza afterwards and then spiking a temperature, resulting in a trip to a&e and an overnight stay in hospital due to an infection.
‘While the doctor informed us that Noa was showing signs of being quite sick and her initial tests were cause of concern, she fought back with antibiotics and we were sent home yesterday knowing that the chances of meningitis or septicaemia were now very low.
‘We’re still waiting the final blood culture results from the lab but she’s been feeding well, she looks healthier and apart from hardly any sleep last night because of tummy cramps (a side effect of the antibiotics) she’s doing so much better and today is hopefully the only day we had to go back for her daily dose of IV antibiotics.
‘Fingers crossed she gets the all clear tomorrow morning and we don’t need to go back for further IV antibiotics. This time three weeks ago she was just 7 hours old!’

Kate said she is praying the couple have ‘turned a corner’ and can finally start enjoying parenthood after a stressful few weeks.
She said: ‘It’s been the most challenging, emotionally draining and stressful three weeks of my life but I pray we have turned a corner now and can start to enjoy the newborn bubble everyone seems to have which so far has felt more like a horrible fairground ride I want to get off.
‘It doesn’t mean I don’t love Noa, I’ve just honestly struggled and some days found it hard to even get out of bed. Winston Churchill once said: “If you’re going through hell, keep going,” so that’s what I intend to do for my daughter.
Kate finished her post by calling Noa a ‘warrior’ and thanking her friends and family for their continued support.
She wrote: ‘We were sent home yesterday knowing that the chances of meningitis or septicaemia were now very low’
‘Happy 3 weeks on planet earth my little warrior, she has no idea how much she’s loved far and wide.
‘Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your continued love and support on this journey we’re on. My family, my fiancé, friends, you guys, you all mean the world to me. ❤️’
Kate revealed Noa had been taken to hospital on Tuesday and emotionally admitted that she’s ‘not sure how much more she can take’ and would instead love to be enjoying the ‘newborn bubble’.
Just last month, Kate revealed she had rushed Noa to hospital on another occasion after discovering her finger had become infected and they were forced to stay in overnight but were discharged the next day.
She added: ‘We’re still waiting the final blood culture results from the lab but she’s been feeding well’

Kate wrote on Instagram: ‘Noa has improved and we’ve officially been discharged from hospital. I can continue giving her antibiotics at home.
‘Thank you to everyone at The Whittington Hospital for taking such excellent care of my baby girl.
‘I’m forever grateful and my heart goes out to anyone who’s little one is in the hospital right now. Some of the children I was on the paediatric ward were so poorly.’
The Virgin Radio star posted a picture of Noa strapped up to medical tubes in A&E on Instagram.
She added: ‘Fingers crossed she gets the all clear tomorrow morning and we don’t need to go back for further IV antibiotics. This time three weeks ago she was just 7 hours old!’
She explained that she telephoned 111 after finding the baby’s fingertip ‘red, hot and swollen’.
Kate said: ‘Was told to bring her straight to A&E to get it seen to as it’s infected.’
The TV star wrote: ‘We’re having to stay in overnight as she’s too young to be sent home with antibiotics.
‘They’ve attempted to put a cannula in four times but it’s not worked. Noa was so distressed. They are giving her a rest before trying again.’

Kate later wrote: ‘It took eight attempts to get her cannula in. That’s eight needles into a different part of her hand and foot until they were successful. We have to stay 24 hours. I need to sleep.’
Sharing a picture of her poorly hand, Kate later updated her followers and said: ‘Noa has paronychia. It’s an infection of the finger and it’s being treated with antibiotics via the cannula.
‘She slept well from 4am. She looks healthy so hopefully it’s a sign she’s responding well. Hopefully we can go home later this evening.’
Sharing a snap of her little tot sleeping peacefully, Kate said: ‘I am in awe of this little lady’s strength and bravery.’
