Sinitta reveals she has been banned from dating app Hinge

She had an on-off relationship for 20 years with Simon Cowell after first meeting in the 1980s.

And Sinitta revealed she has had dating difficulties recently after she was banned from the dating app Hinge after finding 55 potential suitors.

Speaking to TOWIE’s Pete Wicks and First Dates’ Cici Coleman on Fubar Radio’s The Dating Show, the singer, 52, said she was only on the app for two days before being removed.

Sinitta said: ‘So dating apps, right? They don’t work though. Do they? I got chucked off of one.

‘I don’t know what I did. I was only on it for two days. It was going really well. People were talking to me, sending me messages, and I was getting rid of everybody who was inappropriate.

‘And then I was going to sit down and start communicating. And then, luckily someone had WhatsApp’ed me, they’d put their phone number in the messaging part to say, “if you want to just talk on WhatsApp rather than here”.

‘But he wasn’t responding on the app so I was like, “why aren’t you talking to me?” And he said, “Oh, it said you deleted your account?”, but I didn’t actually delete it.’

Cici added: ‘Oh, this happened to me. If you’re a celebrity and people know who you are, then they might think that you’re catfishing!

‘So they report you to the app and then the app deletes you. That’s what happened to me twice.’

Clearly relieved, Sinita replied: ‘Oh, God. I feel better now, even though that’s horrible. Because they were really cute! You know, I was really surprised at the quality. I was like, “Oh my gosh!”‘

When asked by Pete which app it was, Sinitta added: ‘Hinge’ before revealing she had a number of suitors wanting to speak to her.

She said: ‘I had fifty-five guys that I was like, “I would be like to meet these people”.’

‘I was whittling away the ones that were just too young and, but not just deleting, I was saying “you’re so cute, but you’re too young for me”.

‘I was doing it nicely and a few people were coming back saying, ‘well, I don’t mind if you don’t mind’ and I was like, “I mind! I could be your mum!”.’

The TV star revealed that she had never thought about using apps because she thought she’d get ‘idiots playing tricks’ on her.

Cici asked: ‘Other than the apps, before lockdown, what were you doing to find men? How would you do that?’

Sinitta replied: ‘Well, people were introducing me. I thought that would be the only way, I never thought I’d use a dating app because I thought it would just be ridiculous.

‘I’d just get idiots playing tricks on me. So I was being introduced by friends who said, “Oh, I know someone you’d like, or someone who’d like you”, so that was nice.

‘A couple of times I must admit the people that I met were a bit too old for me, even though they weren’t biologically too old, but physically and mentally.

‘Like they were really acting that way and it made me feel old because I was thinking, “wow, is this what I get now?”‘

Sinitta has had a number of high-profile relationships, including Simon Cowell, 61, and actor Brad Pitt, 57, who she dated for two years in the 1980s.

Pete: ‘Do you think it’s hard for a guy then because you have some well-documented exes who are very high profile? Do you think blokes are intimidated by that?’

The TV star replied: ‘Maybe people that are serious. I think people who are chancers or players wouldn’t.’

Sinitta has two adoptive children Magdalena and Zac with husband Andy Willner, who she split from in 2009 after seven years of marriage.

She revealed that she ‘actively’ wants to be in a relationship after being single for five years, and felt like it would have been nice to spend lockdown with someone.

Pete asked: ‘So, are you happy being single or are you actively wanting to be in a relationship?’

Sinitta replied: ‘I think I’m actively wanting to be in a relationship, but I’m also quite scared because I’ve been single for so long.

‘I didn’t realise how long it had been, and so I am used to being on my own and I think it would be a bit much to suddenly be in a full-on thing.’

She added: ‘I don’t know if I have to be married again and all those things, or if it would just be nice to have someone?

‘But see, I do like monogamy, so I wouldn’t like to be sharing somebody with somebody else.’
