She’s an Australian TV icon with a career spanning more than six decades.
But one viewer labelled Denise Drysdale ‘too old’ to be on television, in a cruel comment left on Studio 10’s Facebook page.
‘I think they’re right!’ the 72-year-old said on Friday’s show, showing off her signature dry wit – much to the amusement of co-hosts Sarah Harris and Tristan MacManus.

She then turned serious, admitting she was grateful ‘to have a job at my age’.
‘Don’t think I don’t appreciate it,’ said the veteran TV personality, who began her TV career as a dancer on the Tarax Show at the age of 10.
‘It’s a bit tiring at times, but I love it!’ added Denise. She then addressed viewers, saying: ‘And I love you, even if you don’t love me.’

It comes after Denise fractured her shoulder when she fell over while competing on Channel Seven’s Holey Moley last year.
The incident occurred as she was competing against former Olympic speed skater Steven Bradbury during a ‘Frankenputt’ challenge.

As part of the Frankenstein-themed course, contestants who missed their shots were zapped by an ‘electric shock machine’, which was controlled by an actor wearing an ‘evil gopher’ costume.
After missing her shot, Denise playfully tried to chase the gopher around the course, but ended up losing her balance and falling over.
She immediately howled in agony and began writhing on the putting green.

‘That doesn’t look good at all,’ commentator Matt Shirvington said ruefully.
‘Oh, damn shoulder!’ Denise could be heard whispering to herself as she clutched her left arm.
‘Did she just fall on her shoulder?’ fellow commentator Rob Riggle asked, as medics, producers and production staff rushed to Denise’s aide.
‘Oh, that hurt like hell. Oh my god…’ Denise groaned. ‘Where do we go from here?’

In a matter of minutes, the medical staff had wrapped Denise’s arm in a sling and escorted her off set in a wheelchair.
Ever the comedian, Denise took the incident in good humour.
‘Ahh, I’m in a sling. Bloody gopher!’ she said, before telling her competitor: ‘Steven, I’m out!’
