Una Healy reveals she’s looking for love again after her ‘traumatic’ split from Ben Foden

Una Healy has revealed that she is looking for love again after her ‘traumatic’ split from ex-husband Ben Foden.

Talking in a new candid interview, the former Saturdays singer, 39, admitted that she has ‘healed’ and had time to ‘recover’ since their shock divorce.

Una married Ben, 35, in June 2012 after four years of dating, but their marriage ended in 2018 after the rugby ace allegedly cheated on her with PR girl, Becky Milne, who denied the claims. The ex couple share Aoife, eight, and Tadhg, six.

The Irish singer, who split from boyfriend David Breen last year, said she is now looking to date again and her only criteria is that they are a ‘nice person’.

Talking to The Sun about her divorce from Ben, Una said: ‘It’ll be three years this summer since we split, so I have had the time to heal from all of that.

‘The past year for everybody has been getting used to a new normal, but for me, the year before that was getting used to my new normal.

‘I’ve had quite a bit of time to recover from it all. It was traumatic, the whole thing, it really was. But I am actually very happy right now.’

Una added that you have to ‘get used to your new life’ and that she couldn’t be at a ‘better place’ than with her family after relocating back to Ireland.

Just one year after their split, Ben surprised fans when he married his second wife Jackie Belanoff Smith on board a luxury yacht in Nantucket, Massachusetts, two weeks after they started dating.

The US socialite announced her pregnancy soon after, and the couple welcomed their daughter, Farrah Abra Foden, in May last year.

Una admitted during the interview that she has ‘never spoken badly’ of Ben and that she never will for the sake of their two children, although she cryptically hinted that he has never gave her ‘one big ultimate’ apology for their ‘traumatic’ split.

The singer said that the rugby ace seems ‘very happy’ with new wife Jackie and despite not seeing their two children ‘often’ due to being ‘very far away’ in America, he always spends ‘quality time’ with them when he does.

Una revealed that she is looking to date again but lamented being single during lockdown as it is ‘so hard’ to meet potential suitors.

The star also admitted that she has used apps in the past but she found it ‘really pointless’ and was even accused of being a ‘catfish’, as people thought her account was an impostor pretending to be her.

Listing her criteria for her future man, Una said she is after a ‘decent, kind, caring and hardworking person’.

Elsewhere, in a separate interview with The Sun, Una said that she thinks a The Saturdays reunion ‘will happen’. The group, which have hits Ego, All Fired Up and If This Is Love, formed in 2007 and have been on a hiatus since 2014.

The singer admitted that she would ‘love’ to join forces with her bandmates again, which includes Frankie Bridge, Mollie King, Rochelle Humes and Vanessa White, adding she would rather do it ‘sooner’ than ‘later.

Una teased that the former bandmates will probably go to Rochelle’s husband  Marvin Humes’ reunion tour with JLS where they ‘might have a chat’.

The singer’s interview comes after her ex-husband Ben recently admitted that it was ‘wrong’ to marry his new partner, Jackie, on the day their divorce was granted.

Speaking in an interview with TV presenter Sharon Carpenter on Instagram Live in September, Ben admitted he didn’t act in a particularly kind way towards the mother of two of his children.

The X Factor star said: ‘I hold my hands up and say, it was wrong. My final decree didn’t even come through until the morning of us getting married.

‘People will say I wasn’t very respectful in what I did, getting married to Jackie very quickly, but you can’t help the heart and we’ve got past it.’

Una has previously admitted that she found Ben’s new marriage a ‘big shock’ and credited their two children for ‘pulling her through’ their ‘devastating’ divorce.
