Josh Duhamel is nearly unrecognizable as an aging superhero in the first trailer for Netflix’s Jupiter’s Legacy

An iconic comic book from Mark Millar (Kick-Ass, Kingsman, Wanted) comes to life in the first teaser trailer for Jupiter’s Legacy.

The 45-second trailer literally shows some of the images from the 2013 comic, written by Millar, drawn by Frank Quitely with coloring and lettering by Peter Doherty, coming to life.

Josh Duhamel is practically unrecognizable as Sheldon Sampson, a.k.a. The Utopian, one of the first ever superheroes in this magical world.

The trailer begins with the cover to the first issue of Millar’s comic, and some of the characters from the pages within.

These characters are all seen morphing from the comic book version to the live-action TV adaptation version.

The first image features a glimpse at the villainous Blackstar, portrayed by Tyler Mane.

We get a glimpse at The Utopian with a large mohawk full of black hair, engaging in battle with a group of men in snorkeling gear, for whatever reason.

Another segment showcases Elena Kampouris’ Chloe Sampson, Sheldon’s daughter, morphing from the comic pages to the series.

We also get a look at Sheldon’s son Brandon Sampson (Andrew Horton) plus a look at an aging Sheldon, flanked by his wife Grace, a.k.a. Lady Liberty (Leslie Bibb) and his older brother Walter a.k.a. Brain-Wave (Ben Daniels).

Unfortunately, the trailer doesn’t feature any actual footage from the series, though we may see some between now and the May 7 debut on Netflix.

The series also stars Matt Lanter as George Hutchence, Mike Wade as Fitz Small and Tenika Davis as The Flare.

Steven S. DeKnight (Spartacus, Daredevil) created the series, based on the beloved comic book of the same name.
