Why Married At First Sight star Tracey Jewel won’t sue Channel Nine over backlash after show

‘You have to draw a line in the sand and move forward with your life’: Why Married At First Sight star Tracey Jewel won’t sue Channel Nine for backlash she received after show’s fifth season

She considered taking legal action after experiencing a barrage of abuse on social media following her appearance on Married At First Sight in 2018.

But Tracey Jewel has decided to step back from her threat to take Channel Nine and production company Endemol Shine Australia to court, in a bid to focus on her family.

The heavily pregnant 38-year-old told The Daily Telegraph on Tuesday she believed her ‘energy and time was better suited elsewhere’.

‘I was debating [taking legal action] because my anxiety 100 per cent came from doing the show and the backlash,’ Tracey, who is 37 weeks pregnant, said.

‘It was only adding to my anxiety and at some point you have to draw a line in the sand and move forward with your life, and I’m glad I did.

‘A legal battle is a very long process, and I thought my energy and time was better suited elsewhere.’

The beauty was inspired to take legal action in 2019, after seeing Channel Seven ordered to compensate former House Rules star Nicole Prince, who claimed she lost work after being portrayed as a bully on the show in 2017.

‘These people have ruined my life. I am suicidal most days.’

She detailed having suffered from anxiety and becoming a ‘total recluse’ because of the torment she received from online trolls following her appearance.

Tracey’s decision to step back from her threat against the network and production company follows being ‘inundated’ with lawyers wanting to take her case.
