Love Island’s Amber Davies to play leading role as a high school cheerleader in new musical Bring It On alongside Olympian Louis Smith

She was a hit when she starred in Dolly Parton’s West End 9 to 5 musical  in 2019. 

And Amber Davies has landed the leading role in the new musical Bring It On. 

The Love Island star, 28, will play newly crowned cheerleading squad captain, Campbell alongside Olympic gymnast Louis Smith, 31.

Inspired by the 2000 film, Bring It On features an original score by the multi award winning creator of Hamilton, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Pulitzer Prize winning Tom Kitt, composer of Next To Normal.

The production is directed by Guy Unsworth and choreographed by Fabian Aloise.

It follows Campbell (Amber) who is forced to move to a neighbouring school Jackson High. 

But an unlikely friendship catapults Campbell back into contention with a powerhouse squad and the fire to achieve the impossible.

In 2017, the brunette found fame by winning ITV2’s Love Island with ex-boyfriend Kem Cetinay.

They split 132 days after scooping the £50K cash prize.

Amber went on to make her professional stage debut in 2019 as Judy Bernly in Dolly Parton’s 9 to 5 The Musical at the Savoy Theatre and subsequently on the UK tour. 

Four-time gymnastic Olympic medallist Louis, meanwhile, shot to fame in 2008 when he won the first British gymnastic medal in 100 years at the Beijing Olympics. 

Following his success at the London 2012 Olympic Games Louis later won that year’s BBC Strictly Come Dancing, before going on to win the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special in 2014. 

On stage he has appeared in Rip It Up in both the West End and on tour. 

The play will be shown at the Southbank Centre’s Queen Elizabeth Hall from Wednesday 8 December 2021 to Saturday 22 January 2022, following eight performances at the New Theatre, Peterborough from Tuesday 30 November to Saturday 4 December 2021.
