A creative stylist and mum has revealed how you can make your old throw blankets look fluffy and new again, using a homemade solution of bicarb soda, vinegar and detergent.
Liz Amaya, from Brisbane, shared a video on Instagram to her 71,000 followers, where she explained how you can easily restore old lacklustre blankets with a simple warm wash and three-step solution.
‘How to clean your throw blankets and make them soft again,’ Liz posted.

To try her trick for yourself, simply gather up all of your blankets to wash together separately from any other items.
Then, add half a cup of bicarb soda to the washing machine and half of your regular detergent into the detergent drawer.
Following this, put half a cup of vinegar in the drawer and wash the blankets on a ‘gentle cycle in warm water’.
‘They’ll be so fluffy again!’ Liz said.
‘I use it for sheets and towels too, and it really freshens them up.’

‘To make your bathroom sparkle and for a natural cleaner, mix vinegar and bicarbonate soda,’ Liz said.
‘Scrub the surfaces, it’s a great combination for getting off built up limescale as well as mould and bacteria.’
You should also invest in microfibre cloths, which should then be covered in one part vinegar to two parts water to get rid of any fingerprints, grease and leftover soap residue.
‘Finally, use an old toothbrush to scrub stains and scum from your grout,’ Liz said.
You should also wash your towels regularly to keep your bathroom looking and feeling clean.
