Female primary school teacher, 55, pleads not guilty to assaulting two boy pupils

A primary school teacher is set to stand trial after she was accused of violently attacking two young pupils.

The 55-year-old faces five charges of assault relating to a series of alleged attacks, including one incident where it is claimed she pushed a boy with such force he hit a classroom radiator. 

It is alleged she pinned a boy to the ground by sitting on his body before holding his arms to the ground with her knees. 

The teacher, who cannot be named due to reporting restrictions, pleaded not guilty to all the charges at a short hearing yesterday.

She will face a three-day trial at Aberdeen Sheriff Court at the end of this month. 

Alongside one accusation of assault against the child in 2018, the woman also faces a series of charges against another boy, dating from March to July 2019.

Prosecutors allege that in March 2019 she assaulted the boy by grabbing him by the body and dragging him along the ground at a school in Aberdeenshire.

Another two incidents are said to have taken place in April that year.

It is claimed the teacher pinned a boy to the ground by sitting on his body before holding his arms to the ground with her knees.

The following month, she is accused of having assaulted the same child by shoving him on two separate occasions.

Another incident is reported to have taken place in July 2019 where the woman is accused of grabbing the boy and dragging him along the ground, injuring him in the process.

A spokesman for Aberdeenshire Council said: ‘We await the outcome of court proceedings and continue to work closely with Police Scotland. We are also continuing to engage with the school community.’
