Hilarious moment mum discovered twins, three, had emptied a bag of sugar and salt all over floor

A mother-of-two was left red faced when she discovered her twins had emptied a bag of sugar and salt all over her newly-cleaned living room to recreate ‘snow angels’.

Kim McCabe, 31, from Solihull, Birmingham, had just finished cleaning the kitchen and living room when she nipped to the loo for five minutes – only to return and find the entire downstairs floor covered in white grit.

The mum of two to twins, Mila-Rose and Kyson, three, filmed the moment as she realised the pair had emptied two entire bags of salt and sugar over the floor to mimic snow so they could make snow angels.

‘I must have only been gone five minutes but they were suspiciously quiet so I thought I’d go and check on them,’ explained Kim.

‘When I saw the floor I gasped, I couldn’t believe it and I didn’t even know what it was at first.

‘I had just spent hours cleaning the entire downstairs and I felt like crying but when they started lying down on the floor and making snow angels I couldn’t help but laugh.’

The hairdresser spent another 45 minutes cleaning up the new mess and getting the kids cleaned up, who were caked in the salty sweet mixture.

‘They were gutted that everywhere else in the UK had seen snow and we hadn’t had any more snowfall so they decided to make their own,’ she explained.

Elsewhere, a mum-of-three has threatened to ‘sell her kids on eBay’ after they daubed her entire living room and brand-new £1,000 sofas in talcum powder.

Christina Milford-Scott, from Hailsham, East Sussex, may have prepared herself for a day of ‘chaos’ on Friday as it was her youngest daughter Feleigh’s first birthday – however she didn’t realise it would see her beloved grey settes turned white.

The 23-year-old had left her eldest children, Bronwyn, four, and Soren, two, to play in the living room while she started some work but minutes later she was greeted by the two tots ‘looking white as ghosts’.

The self-employed nail technician and hubby Jareth, 23, discovered their new real leather sofas, which cost more than £1,000, covered in white power – along with their carpets, curtains and even their lampshade.

Furious Christina was then forced to scrub down her cheeky offspring in the bath before the couple tackled the mess, which took than two hours to brush and mop their floors and scrub the walls.

Now Christina has banned all baby powder from the house to avoid a ‘snow blizzard’ in the future – admitting she is still finding talc everywhere.

‘My heart stopped,’ said Christina. ”I started laughing because when I’m in shock I laugh, but really I was angry. I was livid.

‘They have done this before but nothing on this scale. You’d think we learnt our lesson. Third time round talc is finally banned.

‘These children are going to drive me insane and I have finally got over the funny thought of selling them on eBay.

‘It’s funny because I have been threatening to sell them on eBay jokingly and now I think it’s about time I create the ad.’

Christina had woken up early with her excited children on Friday morning as her artist husband had been up in the night with Feleigh who was teething.

As she pottered around in the living room with the tots playing under her feet, she prepared for a busy day.

Christina said: ‘I woke up and already I knew it was going to be chaos. I thought ‘right, I’ll do their breakfast’.

‘As I was going through the kitchen, they were running around me already and smashed one of my plates. I know it was going to be one of those days.

‘I was pottering around doing some business stuff. I left them alone for just 15 minutes and could hear them playing.

‘I thought they were fine. They weren’t quiet – normally you worry when kids go quiet. I thought everything was fine.

‘I was sat at my desk doing some work and I hear ‘Mummy, Soren’s had the talcum powder’.

‘I turned around and they were both white as ghosts.’

As Christina swivelled around in her chair, she saw her Bronwyn and Soren covered head to toe in the white powder.

In a panic, she rushed over to her husband to wake him up, knowing the scene that awaited her downstairs ‘was going to be bad’.

Christina said: ‘I’m pretty sure Soren started it all. He’s a real troublemaker.

‘When I saw them, I knew it was going to be bad. I said ‘JJ, you need to get up now. We need all hands-on deck’.

‘We just walked really slowly into the lounge. I just knew.

‘This was a 500G tub. Brand new and unopened. It was for the baby and I’d just bought it on Thursday. I left it in one of the bags and they just went through it.

‘We haven’t long moved in so we’re still unpacking everything.

‘The first thing I thought of was my leather sofas. They’re real leather and you have all the crevices.

‘We’ve not even had them a couple of months. They’ve been in storage for the majority of the time.’

Taking charge, Christina scooped up the mischievous little ones and rushed them to the bathroom, desperate to avoid them spreading the talc into other rooms.

The shocked couple then brushed up the excess powder, mopped their floors four times and desperately tried to clean the powder out of the creases in their new sofas.

Christina said: ‘I thought ‘okay, first we need to bath them and get them into their rooms, then we’ll sort out the situation’.

‘When I was telling them to stop playing, they were still playing with it. They were throwing it around and kicking it everywhere.

‘We had them bathed and in their rooms within 10 minutes. I left my husband to make a start while I popped out for a cigarette. I was so angry.

‘I knew they were having fun and they’re bored. They’re not in school because of lockdown. I didn’t want to make a huge scene out of it.

‘My hoover doesn’t work so we were having to sweep. I said “right JJ, start from the top and work your way down.”‘

‘It was even on my lampshade and at the top of my curtains. We got the broom and started brushing down our walls, curtains, sofas. We’ve mopped it four times already and you can still see it.

‘It took us just over two hours to clean up and we’re still finding things now. I haven’t dusted my TV stuff yet – that’s still covered. I’m still finding talc in the creases of the sofa.’

After posting the images online, Christina was inundated with advice from other concerned parents, who claimed she should be thankful it wasn’t Sudocream.

Christina said: ‘I spoke to them and my eldest just said ‘Soren did it’. I asked what she meant and she said ‘Soren, started it’.

‘Online, a lot of parents were giving me advice and saying ‘at least it’s not Sudocrem’. Sudocrem is the worst.’

On social media, one mum wrote: ‘Ahh you’ve cheered me up so much, I really thought it was only my kids who owned the ability to trash our house.’

Another Facebook user said: ‘Two of mine, when little, covered each other head to toe with Sudocrem and said they were snowmen.’

While another parent agreed: ‘Please say it’s flour and not Sudocrem? Flour you can clean, Sudocrem you may as well just sell the house.’
