Mark Wright admits he felt ‘depressed when training for washboard abs like Brad Pitt’

Mark Wright confessed that training and dieting to achieve a six pack like Brad Pitt left him feeling ‘depressed’, as he said it was the ‘worst six weeks of my life’. 

The former TOWIE star, 34, asserted that balance is the key to a happy life as he admitted that being ripped is not worth feeling constantly hungry or angry. 

He said to The Sun on Sunday: ‘I don’t look like I’m starring in Fight Club because to get to that, it would just make me depressed.

‘I did it once before and it was the worst six weeks of my life.

‘Yes, it was the most ripped I had ever been. But I was constantly hungry and angry, so I’m not prepared to ever do it again.’ 

The former football player- who has launched a fitness app called Train Wright – said it is important not to be too strict when following health and fitness rules. 

He confirmed that he’ll ‘never say no,’ to a pint with pals when the pubs reopen as he refuses to be limited by his nutrition or exercise plan.

Instead, Mark maintains moderation by eating healthily, drinking plenty of fluids and ensuring he stays well rested.  

Earlier this month, Mark showed off the inside of his incredibly healthy fridge on Loose Women as he continued to host his Get Moving With Mark segment. 

The former TOWIE star, who shares his home with Michelle Keegan, had plenty of nutritious foods to keep him going throughout the week, including vegetables, protein and juices. 

During the show panellist Brenda Edwards revealed she has managed to lose 4lbs in two weeks, after being coached by Mark on how to improve her diet and exercise regime.  

Speaking of her weight-loss, Brenda, 52, told the panel: ‘I’m on week two, and I’ve lost 4lbs. 

‘My portion control has changed, usually I would have a plate and I would have to fill the plate. I have consciously controlled the portions and continued my exercise.’

Mark told the panel of Brenda’s progress: ‘I’m so proud and I must say, Brenda you look like you’re glowing, even on the phone last night when we talked to each other you were so positive you must be so proud of yourself.’

As he showed off his fridge which was stacked high with fruit and vegetables, Mark dished out some of his advice: ‘For me it’s 100 per cent about balance, it’s so easy for someone to say cut this out, do this exercise.

‘I don’t believe in that, I have cheat days, I eat what I like on the weekend. 

‘Brenda was honest she said “Mark my biggest struggle was chocolate”, and I said “what can we do to make it better?”

‘We talked about it together and now Brenda is eating 70 per cent dark chocolate, she can only have two bits because it’s so rich. 

‘If you make yourself hungry you’re going to want to grab those crisps that chocolate.’
