‘I occasionally have low body image days, but whenever those thoughts creep in I remind myself what my body did.

‘Actually what it’s STILL doing feeding my son. And say, thank you body ILY. It’s surreal. It’s definitely given me a new appreciation of our bodies.’

Ashley said she was very much still on the road to recovery but was comforted in how her body is looking after her baby.

Ashley went on to say she thought ‘our bodies were meant to have recovered 6 weeks after birth’, and as soon as you get the health check as an ‘all clear’ to go back to exercise.

But she found after a doctor’s appointment she still has a tummy gap, slight prolapse and needs to work on her pelvic floor muscles.

The DJ, who shares Alfie with boyfriend Tom Andrews, 31, said she felt ‘much better’ after going to the post-natal health check, before going on to slam prevailing attitudes around women’s bodies after they give birth.

Call for change: The new mum said it made her sad and angry that there was a lack of education around post-natal care and 'it makes me really want to do something about it.’

She wrote: ‘I felt so much better knowing exactly where I am rather than just guessing and fearing my body. (I was genuinely scared of ripping a stitch if they weren’t healed)…

‘I feel like there’s a lack of knowledge because there’s so much shame or embarrassment around our bodies. I wish it would change.

‘I feel like pregnant bodies get so much love and admiration, but postnatal bodies are treated like they should be covered up or snapped back.

‘I don’t fit in my old clothes, but I decided not to stress and just buy some in a new size. What I love about my new tiny belly is that Alf loves to lie on it.’

She added: ‘Thank you for growing my baby and continuing to feed him.’
