Elisabeth Moss is fighting for survival as The Handmaid’s Tale returns Wednesday, April 28.

The two-time Golden Globe winner is back to serve another award-worthy season in her critically-acclaimed dystopian drama.

She leads a resistance in a new teaser for season four of the Hulu series, as she and her fellow handmaids attempting to escape the oppressive Gilead, which is on the verge of war.

The 38-year-old was last seen as June Osbourne (AKA Offred), when she missed her flight to freedom, after risking her life for the cause.

A synopsis for the new season reads: ‘The cultural phenomenon picks up where we left off, with June’s fight for freedom against Gilead. 

‘But the risks she takes bring unexpected and dangerous new challenges, and her desire for justice and revenge threaten to consume her and destroy her most cherished relationships.’ 

In the new teaser, June looks unrecognizable by Gilead standards, in a yellow hoodie and a blue baseball cap, as she navigates some deserted war-torn city streets.

Ann Dowd returns to her Emmy-winning performance as Aunt Lydia, who’s heard saying: ‘She’s out there planning who knows what kind of atrocities to visit upon our righteous nation. Find her and bring her to me.’

June rallies the troops, who appear to have found a way of life off the grid, telling them: ‘We don’t hide, we fight.’

The teaser culminates with a cut of action shots, including June holding Aunt Lydia to the ground, June kissing Nick (Max Minghella) and June running away from an explosion with Janine/Ofwarren (Madeline Brewer).

Based on the 1985 dystopian novel by Margaret Atwood, The Handmaid’s Tale follows June’s escape from the totalitarian Gilead, where she and other women are forced to bear children for the highest ranking men in the regime.

Season four was supposed to premiere on Hulu last fall, but it was delayed after the COVID-19 pandemic shut down production in Canada last March.

The streaming platform has already renewed their No. 1 original series for a fifth season back in December.
