Fitness influencer Ashy Bines woke up to 700,000 new Instagram followers on Thursday, but she maintains she didn’t buy them.
After fans noticed the huge leap in followers, the 32-year-old shared a screenshot of her profile on Instagram Stories and claimed she had ‘no idea’ how it happened.
‘This happened overnight and I have no idea how, I would never purchase followers as there is ZERO point to do that,’ she wrote.

She added: ‘I honestly wish there was an app I could remove anyone who didn’t engage or watch. I’d much prefer to have 5,000 engaged people than a bunch of people who aren’t interested or connected.’
Ashy then asked if any of her other followers had experienced anything similar.
According to DigitalMarketing.org, high-profile Instagram users will often purchase followers from fake accounts to make themselves seem more popular.
‘This happened overnight and I have no idea how, I would never purchase followers as there is ZERO point to do that,’ she wrote

However, Ashy insisted she didn’t buy followers and explained her sudden growth was probably just a ‘glitch’.
By Friday morning, she was back to one million followers – which was the number she had before 700,000 users spontaneously followed her.
‘It’s BACK to normal now! No word back from Instagram but whatever glitch happened fixed itself!’ she told fans on Instagram Stories.
