£485,000 three-bed farmhouse on the edge of Snowdonia is being raffled off for just £5

David and Christine Jones are raffling off their converted, £485,000 country home just £5 after buying it for £200,000 as a rundown farmhouse in North Wales in 2019

The couple spent 15 months breathing new life into the farmhouse, which dates back to around 1811 and sits near to the picturesque Llyn Peninsula and Snowdonia National Park. Pictured: The living room during renovation works

Previously outdated cupboard doors and the kitchen worktop have been replaced, while original wooden beams still feature 

New tiling has been put in place in the kitchen, which looks a lot more comfortable and homely compared to the peeling mess the couple bought two years ago 

Three bedrooms are found upstairs – including two with south-facing windows with ocean views. Care home worker Christine, Jones, 63, said the couple ‘immediately fell in love with the ‘beautiful and unique surroundings’ of the property

The property in Rhonda needed a new roof to be added, but after extensive work to make the building into a country home, the owners are raffling it off  – with all proceeds set to go to The Children’s Society

The property’s flooring had to be taken up entirely during the 15 months of renovation works in order to turn it into a luxurious, three bedroom home 

As well as space for eating in the kitchen, the comfortable home also has a dining room with space for entertaining guests 

The couple hope to sell around 130,000 raffle tickets at a cost of £5 each, in order to cover the cost of their house, along with admin fees and legal costs, while also raising money for charity 

Upstairs the property has a master bedroom and two other bedrooms, with original wooden beams still featuring inside 

Military veteran David, 65, said: ‘We chose to sell the farmhouse through a competition because everybody wins. ‘We’re able to get the full market value for our home, The Children’s Society gets money they need to help, and someone is going to get a wonderful home for free.’ Pictured: The country home’s dining room

Set in the heart of the North Wales countryside, the house offers three bedrooms, a large living room, bespoke kitchen, a dining room and an outbuilding – with plenty of space outdoors too 

The move comes after neighbours Ryan Mclean and Katherine Jablonowska raffled off their stunning home last year. Outside there is plenty of space for sitting down and enjoying the Welsh countryside, with a fire pit available for cold nights 

Mrs Jones said: ‘None of us thought we would be living in anything like the current situation and because of it we have made the difficult decision to return to the Lincolnshire area where most of our family live, so we can be closer and support them better’
