Has Meghan Markle had extensions? Duchess debuts ‘glamorous Hollywood curls’

The Duchess of Sussex ‘made a statement with big glamorous curls’ for her first appearance since quitting the royal family yesterday, a celebrity hairdresser has claimed.

Prince Harry, 36, and Meghan Markle, 39, who last week officially split from the Firm, appeared in a 20-second video plugging their Archewell Audio podcast at a Spotify live stream event.

In the clip, which was filmed at their $14 million Santa Barbara home, the expectant mother looked glamorous with waist-length locks styled into a bouncy blow-dry.

Celebrity hairstylist James Johnson told FEMAIL  the stunning new look was likely achieved with the help of clip-in extensions, adding that the Duchess had had a ‘Hollywood makeover’.

He explained: ‘I think a lot of us are feeling the need for a re-vamp, perhaps this is the image she’s always wanted to look like.’

James continued: ‘Meghan is opted for a whole new cut, and it’s great to see her changing her style.’

He added: ‘She looks so glamorous with her Hollywood makeover. Curly and big is a good way to make a statement with a new look!’

Meanwhile the stylist suggested the Duchess likely achieved her glamorous new look with clip-in extensions, which could have added to the length and thickness of the royal’s hair.

He explained: ‘This can be done using clip ins’ they’re a great way to add instant length and thickness when wanting to mix it up a hair style.

‘Permanent extensions are much more maintenance. Clip ins can be great as it’s versatile to change up without any long term commitment.’

The stylist also explained that the style was achievable for royal fans to try at home, saying: ‘Pin curl to get this look and then shake/brush for glamorous waves.’

The appearance of her hair provides a stark contrast to her time as a working royal, when she would often wear her locks in a much shorter cut styled with soft waves.

It was a style the Duchess continued throughout her first pregnancy, when she often chose to pin up her hair into a bun or ponytail to attend royal events.

But in recent months, the Duchess has shown off a much longer style which she has often swept into a side parting.

For yesterdays call, Meghan donned a £2,600 soft blue Oscar de la Renta gown embroidered with lemons.

The expectant mother looked glamorous in a 60s-inspired cocktail dress, with a dramatic flounced hem and citrus fruit detailing across the bodice and skirt.

She swapped her usual low key make-up for a stunning glamorous look, with bold dark eyeshadow, and highlighter.

Meanwhile she kept her accessories to a minimal in order to let her glamorous new look take centre stage.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex last year announced they had secured a deal with the music streaming giant, thought to be worth up to £30million. It was commercial deals such as this that put the couple at odds with the impartiality required of those in public service and seemingly led to the permanent split with the Firm.

In the brief appearance yesterday, Meghan, gushed that they are ‘using podcasting to drive powerful conversations’, before Harry chimed in ‘that inspire, challenge and educate’.

‘We created Archwell audio to make sure we can elevate voices that maybe aren’t being heard and hear people’s stories,’ Meghan, who was wearing a £2,645 Oscar de la Renta dress, continues.

Harry finished: ‘And the biggest part of this is trying to create this community of where you can share, that will encourage everybody else to then share their own vulnerabilities in that safe space.’ It is unclear when the video was filmed.
