Universal’s animated sequel The Croods: A New Age had no trouble repeating atop the box office for a second weekend in a row.
The sequel took in an estimated $1.7 million in its 13th weekend in theaters, which marked its fifth frame in the #1 spot, according to Deadline.
It has also crossed the $50 million mark domestically, just the second movie to do so amid the COVID-19 pandemic, just behind Warner Bros.’ Tenet ($57.9 million).

The Croods: A New Age dropped just 18.3% from last weekend, earning an $899 per-screen average fro 1,890 theaters.
Its domestic total is now at $50.8 million, with $103.1 million from foreign markets for a worldwide tally of just over $154 million.
If Universal continues its theatrical run through the spring, it should be able to catch Tenet as the highest-grossing movie since COVID-19 shuttered theaters nearly a year ago.

The Little Things jumped back up to second place, earning $1.2 million, a 41.3% drop from the previous weekend, while the film is still available on HBO Max as well.
The Little Things, a thriller starring a trio of Oscar-winning actors – Denzel Washington, Jared Leto and Rami Malek, earned a $582 per-screen average from 2,061 theaters.

Judas and the Black Messiah dropped to third with $905K (1,888 theaters, $479 per-screen average, $3.39 million domestic), with Wonder Woman ($805K, 1,681 theaters, $478 per-screen average, $42.6 million domestic) and The Marksman ($775K, 1,643 theaters, $471 per-screen average, $11.4 million domestic).
Monster Hunter took sixth place with $510K (1,366 theaters, $373 per-screen average, $13.4 million domestic) with the sole newcomer, Fox Searchlight’s Nomadland, coming in seventh place.
The indie drama from director Chloe Zhao (The Rider) starring Oscar-winning actress Frances McDormand, earned $503K from 1,175 theaters for a $428 per-screen average.

Curiously, Fox Searchlight did report their grosses for Nomadland, as Deadline reports that 53% of theaters across North America are still shut down due to COVID-19.
The top 10 is rounded out by Land in eighth place with $500K (1,231 theaters, $406 per-screen average, $1.6M domestic), News of the World in ninth place with $245K (1,243 theaters, $197 per-screen average, $11.7M domestic) and The War With Grandpa with $224K (525 theaters, $427 per-screen average, $20.3M domestic).
Next weekend, Warner Bros. rolls out Tom & Jerry both in theaters in wide release and on HBO Max simultaneously, while others like Cherry and The Father arrive in limited release.
