‘I haven’t forgotten!’ Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly reveal chef Gordon Ramsay sends them chilling texts after they pranked him on their TV show

Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly have revealed Gordon Ramsay sends them messages saying he hasn’t ‘forgotten’ the prank they played on him on their TV show.

The pair, both 45, said the celebrity chef, 54, was not happy after they sabotaged his dressing room on an episode of Saturday Night Takeaway.

They said they have had a few guests who have been less than impressed by their antics, and a few have been ‘quite grumpy’.

Ant said: ‘We have had a couple who have been quite grumpy about it. It takes a while for them to see the funny side.

‘Gordon Ramsay was quite angry. He kind of got it, but he’s just an angry man. He’s just quite terrifying when he’s staring right at you.’

During their hidden-camera stunts, the duo dressed up as handymen backstage at Masterchef USA filmed in Los Angeles, California.

According to The Sun, Dec said that Gordon still wasn’t over the encounter and sent messages saying: ‘I haven’t forgotten.’

The duo also said that some celebrities were so angry they had to ‘have a little walk’ after their wind-ups, including The Chase host Bradley Walsh.

Ant said: ‘Bradley Walsh had to be driven round the block. There’s different levels of anger.’

He has been pranked twice by the TV double act, first back in 2005 and again last year when he had to go backstage to calm down on several occasions.

The duo had orchestrated a series of errors on the show, including making spelling mistakes in questions and turning the lights off.

This comes after Ant and Dec gave fans a glimpse at the ‘very different’ Saturday Night Takeaway studio ahead of the series long-awaited return.

The pair have admitted this series will be ‘very different’ to those past, as they prepare to host the beloved show with a virtual audience of 300 people due to the ongoing Covid pandemic.

Despite the new restrictions, they have promised the show will still be a star-studded affair, with the launch show seeing guests including Harry and Jamie Redknapp, It’s a Sin star Olly Alexander and Gary Barlow.

Ant and Dec spoke about the changes to the Takeaway studio during an appearance on Friday’s This Morning.

The pair were in the midst of rehearsals for the show Television Centre in West London, and revealed they’ve spent six months pre-recording content that will feature in the new series.

Dec said: ‘The show’s going to quite different – we have no studio audience here which is such an important part of Takeaway.

‘We’ve got a virtual audience but it’ll be very different. We’ve been getting the show together in very different circumstances.

‘We’ve had lockdowns and restrictions in place. But we’ve managed in the last six to eight months get enough VT stuff to get in the show, enough hidden camera stuff.’

While it’s likely Ant and Dec will have to adhere to social distancing with their celebrity guests, the duo have formed a cohort, meaning they’re tested regularly and do not need to stand two metres apart.
