Dancing On Ice’s Faye Brookes worried she’s the ‘new Caprice’ after Hamish Gaman’s exit

Faye Brookes is reportedly worried she is coming off as ‘the new Caprice’ after it was claimed her pro partner Hamish Gaman had a ‘tense meeting with bosses’ – a day before he had to pull out of Dancing On Ice.

Hamish, 37, was forced to bow out of the competition earlier this week after injuring his hand when putting on a sock.

Now amid swirling rumours tensions were boiling between the skater and producers over their routine being ‘too simple’, Faye is allegedly worried it has made her look ‘desperate to win’.

The Coronation Street actress is said to be concerned she is being made to look like former contestant Caprice Bourret, 49, who sensationally quit the show and was branded a ‘lazy diva,’ while Hamish was accused of ‘gaslighting’ her.

A source told The Sun: ‘It’s quite upsetting. Faye’s hardworking, humble and not ‘desperate to win’ as she has been portrayed.

‘Faye doesn’t complain and just gets on with the things she is given to do. So now she is coming off as desperate to win is just unfair.

‘Now Hamish’s departure feels a bit awkward to say the least among the cast and crew, she doesn’t want to get the ‘Caprice treatment’ and feels she is coming off badly after the Hamish split.’

MailOnline has been to Faye’s representatives and Dancing On Ice for comment.

It was reported Hamish quit Dancing On Ice following a tense meeting with executives about how both he and Faye felt their routine was ‘too simplistic’ and leave them at risk of elimination.

The insider told The Sun both Faye and Hamish went to see show bosses to ‘express their concern over the routine’, which was ‘taking into account Hamish’s injury’ and set to be based on the 1990 film Pretty Woman.

‘Faye, in particular, felt it [the routine] would be too simplistic, they’d get low marks and she would be at risk of elimination,’ the source claimed.

‘But, after the meeting, the cogs clearly whirred into action because less than a day later Hamish was gone.’

However ITV confirmed his withdrawal from the show was due to an injury on his hand, and if he competed on the show he could have an accident or make his injury worse.

An ITV spokesperson told MailOnline on Tuesday: ‘Sadly we can confirm that Hamish Gaman, who has been partnered with Faye Brookes, has had to withdraw from the competition.

Risk: Hamish revealed that he performed alongside the Coronation Street star, 33, during Sunday's show with a strapped-up hand and had been told by doctors that he was putting his finger at risk for the rest of his life

‘We thank him for all his hard work and wish him the very best as he takes some time out to allow his injury to fully heal.’

Hamish’s exit from the show comes a year after Caprice quit Dancing On Ice and made a dig at the pro skater in the process.

The model’s rep told MailOnline at the time: ‘It’s true that Caprice is no longer participating in Dancing On Ice. It’s been a hard few months and she’s had to keep silent for contractual reasons.

‘Her mental wellbeing has been affected over the last two months and recent stories leaked to the press are not only salacious but extremely hurtful.

‘Now she’s taking some time to recover and look after herself and her family.’

Caprice had apparently failed to turn up to rehearsals with Hamish later breaking his silence on the split and claimed ‘the truth will out’ on Instagram.

A source close to Caprice said of this: ‘She is deeply disgusted by the recent post from Hamish on his Instagram. It is a clear indication that not all is well on the western front.

‘He has been made out to be Mother Theresa and Caprice has been horrifically vilified and slandered unfairly. Hamish said “the truth will come out” – and Caprice very much looks forward to this.

‘She and other members of the show have had to keep quiet for contractual reasons, which unfortunately means that much of the reporting has been one-sided and unfair.’

A source also told The Mirror: ‘Caprice did have an issue with Hamish – she felt he was a bully to her. There were a lot of witnesses to his behaviour, including others on the show, who may feel unable to speak out.’

To which ITV responded: ‘We take allegations of bullying very seriously but found no evidence on Dancing On Ice and we strongly refute any suggestion to the contrary.

‘We’re very proud of the team, both on and off screen. They produce a fantastic show and we are committed to ensuring that everyone who works on the programme is fully supported before, during and after the series is on air.’
