Vicky Cornell sues Soundgarden again over ‘offensive’ $300K buyout

Chris Cornell’s widow Vicky sues his band Soundgarden AGAIN over ‘offensive’ $300K buyout: ‘My truth stands stronger than your lies’

  • The 42-year-old former publicist is asking a ‘judge to value the band’s assets’
  • The remaining band members enlisted music industry valuation expert Gary Cohen to calculate the buy-out offer of the Cornell Estate’s interests
  • The Soundgarden frontman – who struggled with depression and drug addiction – died, age 52, by hanging himself at the MGM Grand in Detroit in 2017
  • Cornell previously sued the Seattle grunge band in December over royalties and the rights to 7 unreleased recordings

Three-time Grammy winner Chris Cornell’s second wife Vicky Karayiannis has sued his band Soundgarden, yet again, for offering her an ‘offensive’ $300K buyout of his share.

‘She has no choice but to file the suit asking the judge to value the band’s assets,’ an insider told TMZ on Wednesday.

‘It’s less than what she got for her cut of just the 2018 royalties for Soundgarden’s masters. Vicky also alleged the lowball is obvious because the guys in the band got an offer of $16M from an outside investor for Soundgarden’s masters.’

The 42-year-old former publicist appeared to allude to her suit on Instagram Wednesday: ‘My truth stands stronger than your lies. My will stands stronger than your motives. My love stands stronger than your hatred.’

The Soundgarden frontman – who struggled with depression and drug addiction – died, age 52, by hanging himself at the MGM Grand in Detroit in 2017.

The remaining band members Kim Thayil, Matt Cameron, and Ben Shepherd said music industry valuation expert Gary Cohen calculated the buy-out offer of the Cornell Estate’s interests.

‘In their several attempts to settle, the band members have elected to offer multiple times more than the amount calculated by Cohen,’ a Soundgarden rep told the site.
