Carrie Bickmore berates Waleed Aly live on The Project over his anniversary gift fail

The Project host Waleed Aly celebrated 19 years of marriage to his beautiful wife, Susan Carland, on Wednesday.

But he may not have expected to be berated by his co-host Carrie Bickmore amid the celebration, which is exactly what happened during the show’s live episode.

Seemingly disgruntled that Waleed didn’t get a present for his wife to mark the occasion, Carried, 40, blurted out: ‘You could have got her something, mate!’

‘Because we’re in lockdown, there is nothing that we could do…’ Waheed, 42, responded.

‘Have you heard of the internet?’ Carried said sticking her tongue out, before jamming her hands to mimic a keyboard and saying: ‘You can get a little prezzie online!’

Even Tommy Little was surprised by her outburst, as he laughed: ‘Who is this character that’s just come out that I’m terrified of!’

‘He obviously hadn’t remembered it until this morning!’ Carrie went on.

In an attempt to defend himself, Waleed responded: ‘Can I just say! No, Susan will get in trouble, I’m not going to say it. Let’s just go to break!’

‘Susan forgot!’ the panel guessed, laughing.  

Earlier in the day, Susan shared a sweet photo of the duo together to celebrate the milestone moment.

’19 years ago today!’ she wrote alongside the adorable photo.

Waleed and Susan share two children together; Aisha 16, and Zayd, 12.

They first met when they were both aged 16, and she converted to his religion of Islam three years later.

Two years ago, the Fighting Hislam author told TV Week what she thinks makes their relationship work so well.

‘I think it’s not just that we love each other, we really like each other,’ she said.

‘I also think it helps that we both feel we married up. When you both think that, it tends to work pretty well.’
