Breaking point! on Friday’s instalment of This Morning, Alison Hammond, 46, begged for schools to be reopened and admitted ‘as a parent myself I’m a breaking point!’

Alison, co-host Dermot O’Leary, Matthew Wright and Gyles Brandreth were all discussing when the current lockdown might end.

Dermott admitted: ‘We just want a roadmap’ outlining how and when life will get back to normal.

Alison said: ‘One thing that could be good news is that MPs do seem to agree on the fact that schools should return on the 8th of March.

She begged: ‘Matthew, tell me schools are going to go back. As a parent myself I’m a breaking point! We need to go back to school, they need to go back!’

Matthew insisted that ‘politicians must follow the science’ after the disaster which occurred following the relaxing of rules over Christmas.

Gyles said he has eyes firmly on March 8th – the earliest potential date that lockdown will be eased.

Speaking to The Mirror in January 2018, Alison – who found fame after appearing on Big Brother in 2002 – admitted she chooses her TV appearances wisely for the sake of her child.

She said: ‘I have a 12-year-old son at school, and he’s at a very impressionable age. For his sake, I don’t think it’s fair for me to go on Big Brother, because I’d probably trip myself up now.

‘I’m older and wiser now, I was 27 when I went in there and don’t take no flack no more. I know he wouldn’t want me to do it.’

She added: ‘There aren’t any reality shows I’m doing. I’m concentrating on This Morning and being a parent.’

Alison also revealed she struggled with the demands of raising a child in her native Birmingham while juggling a successful career in the public eye.

‘Trying to find that balance is hard, sometimes I don’t get it completely right,’ she said. ‘It’s just trying to get that balance.’
