Sarah spoke out about the 56-year-old Oscar-nominated writer Wednesday in support of her Buffy castmates Charisma Carpenter, Amber Benson, Clare Kramer, and Michelle Trachtenberg.

‘While I am proud to have my name associated with Buffy Summers, I don’t want to be forever associated with the name Joss Whedon,’ Gellar wrote to her 3.5M Instagram followers.

‘But I stand with all survivors of abuse and am proud of them for speaking out.’

The Long Island-born blonde played the titular role in the WB/UPN supernatural drama – based on Fran Rubel Kuzui’s 1992 film – which ran for seven seasons spanning 1997-2003.

Fans of Joss (born Joseph) knew something was amiss about the so-called feminist when his ex-wife of 16 years Kai Cole blasted his ‘hypocritical repeated cheating’ in TheWrap in 2017.

In 2016, the flame-haired architect divorced Whedon, with whom she has 18-year-old son Arden and 16-year-old daughter Squire.

The third-generation TV writer (after his father Tom and grandfather John) raised eyebrows again on November 25 when he abruptly quit HBO’s The Nevers.

Producers of the six-episode sci-fi drama about gifted Victorian women – premiering April 11 – tweeted a bizarre statement on Tuesday without directly addressing the allegations.

Quoting Joss, they wrote: ‘Redemption is something you have to fight for in a very personal, down-dirty way. Some of our characters lose that, some stray from that, and some regain it.’

They added: ‘Redemption should be sought and fought for. People can change. People should change. It’s in our nature to change, to seek something higher than what we are. What you want wants you and if it’s redemption that you want, it shall be. Peace and love, all.’
