A fan dubbed @sly_4ever was the first to comment on his post, asking, ‘when is the release date? Any idea?’

Stallone simply responded, ‘no one knows yet!!!!’ to the fan, though it’s been in the works for quite some time.

The actor/filmmaker first mentioned the Rocky IV director’s cut, fittingly, in an Instagram comment, when he was asked about making a director’s cut to his 2006 movie Rocky Balboa.

Stallone responded, ‘I am not doing that but I am doing a directors cut on Rocky IV which will be amazing!!!!!’

The director’s cut was supposedly initially slated for release on November 27, which marked the 35th anniversary of Rocky IV.

He also mentioned in another Instagram reply that the now-infamous robot that Rocky Balboa got for his brother-in-law Paulie (Burt Young), will be cut out.

‘For the 35th anniversary, Rocky 4 Is getting a new director’s cut by me. So far it looks great. Soulful. Thank you MGM For this opportunity to entertain,’ he began, adding, ‘The robot is going to the junkyard forever, no more robot.’

Since then, details have been scant about the director’s cut, since it missed the late-November anniversary date.

Stallone posted a video last week featuring a scene from the Rocky Balboa (Stallone) and Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren) fight.
