Ringo Starr rolls back the years with impressive dark thatch

I get dye with a little help from my friends! Ringo Starr rolls back the years with impressive dark thatch as he celebrates 57 years since the Beatles first wowed America

In his early 60s Sir Ringo Starr was happy to embrace the natural greying of his hair.

But at 80, it seems the former Beatle is trying to keep the years at bay with the help of hair dye.

He showed off an impressively dark mop and beard in a photo on Instagram on Tuesday marking the 57th anniversary of the band’s live US TV debut on the Ed Sullivan Show.

Wearing tinted glasses and with longer locks than usual, Starr held his fingers in a ‘peace’ sign in the photo and wrote: ‘I send you all peace and love, peace and love.’

Fellow ex-Beatle Sir Paul McCartney keeps his hair its natural grey.

Ringo wrote: ‘Wow 57 years ago today we came to play the Ed Sullivan show it was a beautiful day for me being in America I send you all peace and love peace and love.’

The Fab Four launched their career stateside in a blaze of publicity with their debut and subsequent appearances on the hit TV show in 1964.

Their every move during their US trips was followed by hordes of screaming fans as Beatlemania reached its peak that year.
