And Russell Wilson has admitted to applying that same winning mentality to his marriage with Ciara.
The 35-year-old pop stat and 32-year-old quarterback put on quite the eye-popping display as they are featured on on of the covers of the ‘Modern Love’ issue of GQ Magazine unveiled Thursday.

The power couple took several intimate snaps together for the monthly with the most showy definitely being one which saw Ciara laid out across her professional athlete husband.
She put on quite the leggy display in an eggplant-colored silk nightgown as Russell wore patterned white pajamas.
In the pages of the issue, the couple discussed one of the secrets to their successful marriage being strong communication as they are always together and if they aren’t they are always on FaceTime.
Wilson says he thinks a lot about the ‘discipline of marriage’ and even compares it to his relationship with his teammates on the football field.
He explained: ‘This idea of the discipline of communication. If I don’t communicate to my receiver, he doesn’t know what the play is. It’s like, “Uh, hey, what are we doing here?”
‘It’s probably more significant than that, even, but for us, for me and Ciara, communicating, it’s the same: “This week’s going to be a challenging week, babe, because I’ve got this responsibility. What about you? What do you have?”
‘And at the end of every week, we always go through a checklist of questions of, you know, “How’d I love you this week?”‘

The two began their relationship in 2015 and tied the knot the following year.
The couple have a three-year-old daughter named Sienna and a six-month-old son named Win Harrison.
Wilson is also a stepfather to the singer’s first child, Future Zahir, aged six, whom she shares with her former fiance Future.
The quarterback recalled meeting Future Jr. when he was just nine-months-old and said that it was really important to him to be there for his now step-son from day one as he explained: ‘When I got to meet Future, he was young.

‘And the reality was that for me it was a blessing and an opportunity to really hopefully be there for him every day and try to care for him in a way that was important for me, that I always wanted someone to do for me. Like my dad did for me.
‘And so I think the greatest thing that I’ve ever learned in life is probably in that relationship with Future, because the reality of being a stepparent is that biologically they’re not necessarily yours, but the reality is that you have to love them as if they are. They’re your own blood in a way. You get to love them that way. And I think every kid deserves that and needs that and yearns for that.’
Early on in the relationship, Ciara’s ex Future expressed displeasure with the situation but the power couple chose to ignore it.
When asked if Future’s comments made it hard, Wilson said: ‘I don’t think anybody made it hard. I think it was easy for us. I think it was about us. It wasn’t about anything else. It was about how we were going to love, and for me it was easy.

Ciara added that Russell’s passion for being a good father is something that she finds very attractive.
She said: ‘And I will also say from day one we’ve been living life for us. Russ—I mean, he did talk about, you know, how he feels and this passion from a father’s perspective, but what’s always been beautiful about Russ is just to see him from day one, excitingly jumping in and changing diapers.’
