Blake Shelton takes his job ‘very seriously’ as a stepfather to Gwen’s three children

He’s an award-winning country musician.

But Blake Shelton admitted he holds his upcoming job as a stepfather in the highest regards as he chatted on The Ride with Kimo & Heather.

The 44-year-old crooner asked Gwen Stefani to be his wife last year, which comes with the responsibility of helping raise her three children.  

‘I take it very serious, but I also have a blast with it,’ Shelton said. ‘I don’t take it so serious that I’m not enjoying this time because I really am, especially now that we’re five years into this thing. I can’t imagine my life without these kids now.’

Gwen has Kingston, 14, Zuma, 12, and Apollo, six, from her marriage to the Bush frontman, Gavin Rossdale, which officially ended in 2016 after 14 years. 

And Blake won’t have to look too far for inspiration as he was guided in life by his own bonus father. 

‘I have a stepfather in my life who is one of my heroes,’ Shelton said. ‘I love my stepfather and he’s like a father to me, so I have a good inspiration in my life on how to do this and the kind of stepdad I want to be.’  

Blake proposed to Gwen in October with a massive sparkling diamond engagement, just months after the couple moved to a new home in Los Angeles.

They first met when she joined the judging panel on NBC’s hit singing competition show The Voice.

After Shelton filed for divorce from his ex wife Miranda Lambert in July 2015, Stefani ended things with her husband Gavin Rossdale in August.

The musical duo went official with their relationship a few months later in November when a rep confirmed the pair were ‘longtime friends who have very recently started dating.’ 

Miranda was previously married to Shelton for four years before the couple parted ways and officially divorced on July 20, 2015.

She recently celebrated two years of wedded bliss with Brendan Mcloughlin, who was previously engaged to Jackie Bruno before Kaihla Rettinger revealed she was seven months pregnant with their son who was born days after he met Lambert in November 2018.
