Jamie Lee Curtis ‘has signed on to appear alongside Cate Blanchett and Kevin Hart in the upcoming Borderlands film adaptation’

It looks like Jamie Lee Curtis will be spending time in the wastelands of Pandora.

According to Collider, the 62-year-old actress has recently signed on to appear in the upcoming film adaptation of the video game Borderlands. 

The Eli Roth-directed project has already signed on Cate Blanchett and Kevin Hart to appear in two of the future motion picture’s leading roles.

Chernobyl screenwriter Craig Mazin has been brought on to author the picture’s script.

Curtis is set to portray Tannis, an archeologist who may have vital information regarding a fabled vault full of futuristic weapons and technology.

Her character also has a contentious history with Lilith, who will be played by Blanchett.

Hart will fill the role of Roland, a supersoldier who has been featured in multiple games across the franchise’s history.

In a statement, Roth expressed enthusiasm for bringing the Halloween actress to the upcoming film’s cast.

The 48-year-old director said, ‘Working with the iconic Jamie Lee Curtis has been a life long dream of mine, and I am so excited for her to bring her humor, warmth and brilliance to the role of Tannis.’ 

Lionsgate Motion Pictures Group President Nathan Kahane spoke about the actress’ addition to the cast and commented on her abilities as a performer. 

‘Jamie is unique in that her characters have depth and gravitas, but are also always hugely entertaining — she commands the screen,’ he said.

Kahane added, ‘The kind of talent we’ve been able to bring together for Borderlands is a testament to the incredible script that Craig wrote and Eli’s vision for Pandora.’

Development on the film adaptation of the video game series was first announced in 2015, and Saw co-creator Leigh Whannell was originally in talks to helm the picture.

Roth signed on to direct the project last year; it currently does not have a set release date.

The original Borderlands video game was released in 2009 and received positive critical attention for its gameplay and storyline.

The series currently has four main entries in addition to a mobile game and an episodic series developed by now-shuttered studio Telltale Games.

Numerous novels and comic books have been released featuring various characters and settings from the franchise.
