Channel Nine’s Amelia Adams slams a troll for sexist double standards after she was criticised for working while her husband looks after their two kids

Channel Nine reporter Amelia Adams has taken a troll to task for criticising her parenting skills.

The 38-year-old currently works as Nine’s U.S. Correspondent, and as a result is now based in Los Angeles with her husband, Luke, and their two children.

Earlier this week, she hit back at a troll who branded her a ‘disappointment’ for working while her husband stays home with the kids.

After Amelia tweeted about a gyro truck, the troll responded: ‘Maybe you could take some gyros home to your family if you ever go back, or will ya husband want to throw nappies at you now.

‘I am still blown away by your solo parenting story, so I don’t enjoy you anymore, what a disappointment,’ they added.

Firing back, Amelia wrote: ‘Strange how I solo parented frequently for several years when my husband travelled for work, yet no one ever (let alone repeatedly) criticised him or called him a disappointment.’

Many of the journalist’s thousands of followers rushed to her defence to show their support for her as a working mum, including former Today show co-host Deborah Knight.

‘Bugger off with the criticism Gerald! Amelia is a gun and how she and her hubby manage their family life is THEIR business,’ Deb snapped.

Another follower wrote: ‘The world is changing whatever works sometimes the father stays home while the wife works. There is no set rules nowadays.’

Amelia previously opened up about being trolled over her parenting skills back in November.

‘Shout out to my husband who is solo parenting indefinitely AND finding time to defend me against the twitter trolls. He is a rock solid teammate and an excellent human,’ she tweeted at the time.

Amelia first left Sydney with her family in 2018 to work as Nine’s Europe Correspondent in London.

At the time, she described the role as her ‘dream job’ and said that it wouldn’t have been possible without her husband.

‘It shouldn’t be such a big deal that a mum is doing this but I do believe it’s a great message that Nine is sending,’ she explained.

‘Also, I want my children to know that mum works hard.’
