Raya and the Last Dragon Super Bowl trailer teases a fun-filled family adventure

Disney shelled out the big bucks to premiere a new TV spot for their upcoming animated film Raya and the Last Dragon during Super Bowl LIV.

The 30-second spot, which cost advertisers a whopping $5.6 million this year, showcased new footage from the family adventure.

Kelly Marie Tran (Star Wars: The Last Jedi) lends her voice to Raya, while comedienne Awkwafina (Crazy Rich Asians) voices ‘the last dragon,’ known as Sisu.

The trailer begins with a group of characters dropping a glowing blue orb, as Raya asks, ‘How did this world get so broken?’

She’s seen sitting with her father, Chief Raya (Daniel Dae Kim), who tells her, ‘I believe we can be unified again, but someone has to take the first step.’

Raya is seen getting on her trusted companion/mode of transportation known as Tuk Tuk (Alan Tudyk) as she starts her journey.

Raya is also seen engaging in a sword fight of sorts, while Raya unleashes her dragon breath.

Raya tells Sisu to ‘hold on’ as she plans to jump across a large crevasse, though Sisu holds her in mid-air, before realizing what’s happening.

‘Oh we were doing a jumpy thing? So sorry, my bad,’ Sisu says, before pushing Raya to the other side.

The trailer comes to an end with a shot of Raya running alongside Sisu, while it’s revealed the film will be available both in theaters and on Disney Plus.

Disney announced in December that Raya and the Last Dragon will debut on March 5, with Premier Access for Disney Plus subscribers.

Raya and the Last Dragon also features a voice cast including Gemma Chan as Namaari, Sandra Oh as Virana and Benedict Wong as Tong.

Don Hall and Carlos Lopez Estrada direct the animated adventure, with Paul Briggs and John Ripa serving as co-directors, working from a script by Adele Lim and Qui Nguyen.

Raya and the Last Dragon is the second film to be released with Disney Premier Access, following the September debut of Mulan.
