Boy, 13, is caught ‘drink driving’ by police after crashing his father’s Ford Escort into a lampost

A 13-year-old boy has been arrested after smashing his father’s car into a lamppost while allegedly drink-driving.

The teenager, who is four years under the legal driving limit, crashed the Ford Escort in Gosport, Hampshire, in the early hours of this morning.

Police were called and arrested the youth after he failed a roadside breath test. 

The disgruntled underage driver then spat at police and has since been criticised by the force for putting officers at risk during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

Hants Response Cops – part of Hampshire Police – tweeted: ‘Good morning from Fareham E shift. Another busy one for the team.

‘Thirteen-year-old male stopped driving his dad’s car in the early hours.’

‘Driver of the pictured vehicle gave a positive RBT in Gosport.

‘And when arrested, decided to spit on the officer.

‘One in the bins.’

One Twitter user, Sarah Malcolm, replied to the post as she wrote: ‘Omg… shocked on all fronts. Hope the officer is okay.’ 

To which Hants Response Cops replied: ‘He is pretty disgusted as we all are especially with the pandemic situation.

‘Thank you for asking, it’s appreciated.’
