Katherine Heigl revealed it’s ‘very confusing’ for her three young children, when she undergoes a drastic hair transformation.
During the 42-year-old actress’ appearance on Thursday’s The Talk, she said her family was shocked when she recently went brunette for her latest role in Netflix’s new series Firefly Lane.
After noting she dyed her tresses because her character in Kristin Hannah’s coming-of-age novel had brown hair, she talked about her 12-year-old little girl Nancy, Adalaide, eight and four-year-old son Joshua’s reactions.

‘I love changing my hair color…and that is very confusing for my children,’ the Emmy winner confessed. ‘My son, especially, who at the time was two, when I did it was just mind-blown.’
She continued: ‘He didn’t even know who I was. Actually, I think he really loved the brunette.’
After returning to her trademark blonde hue after wrapping shooting, Heigl said her son kept asking her:, ‘Where’s your brown hair?’

In her new show, Heigl finds herself in an unlikely friendship with an introvert character named Kate after bonding in 1974, which leads up to a tragedy in the present, according to IMDb.
Earlier this week, she opened up about having a close-knit group of pals, who she calls the ‘Sacred Six’ and has been friend since middle school and high school.
While Firefly Lane follows Tully Hart (Heigl) and Kate Mularkey (Sarah Chalke) throughout their 20s, 30s and 40s, Heigl spoke about what her real friends mean to her in an interview with People.

‘Their constant-ness has given me a sense of self-love and self-worth,’ she adds of the group.
While Heigl and the Sacred Six, ‘navigated those incredibly tumultuous and hormone-driven years,’ she added, ‘as we got into our early 20s, we lost touch.’
‘A high school reunion brought us back together, and since then we have maintained the connection,’ she added.
‘Having that history makes this bond between us so powerful. I don’t feel like I have to be anything other than just who I am — and they love me regardless,’ Heigl continued.
