Dan Levy asks Phoebe Bridgers to write a song about him in their new SNL promo with Aidy Bryant

Schitt’s Creek star Dan Levy gets shut down after asking Phoebe Bridgers to write a song about him in their new SNL promo with Aidy Bryant

He formed an unstoppable comedy duo with his own father on his series Schitt’s Creek.

And Dan Levy expanded his reach on Thursday when he shared promo clips for his upcoming Saturday Night Live hosting appearance with musical guests Phoebe Bridgers.

The 37-year-old Canadian actor joked with the 26-year-old singer–songwriter about having a song written in his honor in one of the humorous clips.

Having a laugh: Dan Levy, 37, joked that singer–songwriter Phoebe Bridgers should write a song about him in a new promo for their upcoming episode of Saturday Night Live

After Dan introduces himself and Phoebe, SNL star Aidy Bryant jumps in to add, ‘Oh we are pumped!’

But the son of comic actor Eugene Levy tries to get Phoebe to immortalize him via one of her songs.

Since the two had been bonding well this week, he asks: ‘I wonder whether you could, like, maybe write a song about me or something?’

‘I think I’m good, actually,’ Phoebe responds with a perfect deadpan voice.

Luckily, Aidy jumped in to save the day by vowing to write a song about Levy before singing his first name.

In another promo, the actress sounds determined to make the upcoming episode a knock out.

‘Yeah, and this one better be funny, guys,’ she says grimly after Dan introduces himself. ‘Dan, I want to see big commitment out of you. And Phoebe, I expect your songs to be hilarious — Weird Al level.’

‘They’re not,’ Phoebe responds blankly.

‘Then what the hell are we going to do?!’ Aidy cries out as she throws her hands up in the air and runs off camera in a panic.

Levy is best known for his starring role on Schitt’s Creek, which aired on the CBC in Canada and Pop TV in the US.

The series, which wrapped up its sixth and final season in April 2020, originally had a limited fanbase, but it rose in prominence when earlier seasons began airing on Netflix after the release of the third season.

Dan’s real-life father Eugene Levy stars as the wealthy video store magnate Johnny Rose, while his regular comedy partner Catherine O’Hara plays his overly dramatic wife Moira.

Dan and Annie Murphy play their spoiled children David and Alexis.

The series opens with Johnny learning that his business manager has embezzled the vast majority of his fortune, leaving him only with a small rural town called Schitt’s Creek that he purchased years ago as a joke.

The family have trouble squaring their expectations of luxury with their new lives crammed into two rooms at a run-down motel in their new town.

Following Levy’s hosting gig on February 7, Regina King will be leading the long-running sketch comedy show Nathaniel Rateliff as the musical guest.
